TD5 cambelt or timing chain ?

Hi guys as title says ! I've got a 02 disco td5 and just wanted to know if it has a cambelt or timing chain if it is the latter will I need to change it at some point in its life cars done 114 000 ! Cheers muchly appreciated 👍

can't say i have heard of one ever being replaced. i would imagine it would start to rattle if there was a problem.

best thing you can do for the td5 is change the engine oil regular and use good oil. 114 thou is just nicely run in :good:

Cheers yeah had it motd Wednesday all passed ok on advisery he said it was leaking coolant from the back of engine somewhere so going to get him to check that out poss next week ! Bit worried about it hope its nothin serious ! ? And hope it don't cost me an arm and a leg lol after that's sorted I've bought the service kit and Morris oil so that's next on the to do list !!!

if its at the back its probably the fuel cooler as its a common problem on the D2.

I was told the chain needed changing at 200k miles by LR dealer. That probably explains why they don't get changed very often. With my 2001 Disco 2 that should leave me another 10 years to go.

You could pop a Barrs Leaks in it and see if that cures it. Worked on my Disco 2 V8, and also on my brother's Chevy V8 truck (in USA).
