Hamster,The point i was making if the op was on his own and between shots painting over previous pattern he would be walking/exerting himself and possibly out of breath or breathing differently affecting the POI. Ask rifle shooters about breathing properly.(im one). The flinching thing is not as daft as you seem to think. Ive shot competion clays for over 30 years n during that time i had a quest to shoot better hence attending Brian Webster/Gunsmith in Tanfield Yorkshire, he was the first smith to use his invention the laser gunfitting system. On my first visit i had a fitting session with him and during the session he told me i was shooting left of POI. We went through the usual possible faults until he suggessted no ear defenders. With no ears on i was back on target. THE CAUSE I WAS FLINCHING BECAUSE WHEN MOUNTING THE GUN IT WAS CLUNKING OFF THE STOCK MAKING ME FLINCH.

Welsh Warrior/ i did not mean for op to shoot without defenders permanently.

I already have quite severe industrial deafness so I will not shoot without ear protection and I wear fitted earplugs anyway so they don't come into contact with the butt of my gun so I don't think I will be flinching.

The new sight does seem to help me as I now don't have to close my left eye, I have some prescription shooting glasses being made up now so when they come I can put some thing on the left lens to help but I don't want to do this with my ordinary glasses as I have to use them to drive home.

The pattern plate at Pinewood is quite large and has 3 buttons to shoot at so I don't have to walk to look at it between shots as I take three shots and shoot them gun down mount then fire for each one.

The next time you shoot going aways on Sporting., if you can stand right behind the shooter in front of you andfocus on the kill spot, when it's your turn pre mount your gun and point the gun slightly under you kill spot and nudge your barrels into the target with your shoulder ( do not steer it with your leading hand) and pull the trigger. If you don't get a kill doing that you need to consult a good coach. from Auntie.
