Nice Old Englishman

Thought I would inject a bit of culture to the boards...... :stupid:

All you boys with your foreign over and unders and semi autos though you might like to see a real gun...... :stupid:

This is my Agnew 12bore side by side. Agnew were an English maker from Exeter in the South West, and seeing as I am a Devonian it seemed a sensible choice. I have owned this gun for over 25 years and bought it with some money my god father left me when he passed away. He was a true shooting gentleman so it is a nice legacy to him.

I use this gun for everything from driven pheasant to rabbiting with the lamp so it gets used 12 months a year. It is already already pushing 100 years old but should see me out if looked after well.

lovely wood  great s/s, is it an ejector?

No it is a non ejector but I can mange pretty well most of the time. I suffered yesterday on one drive a little as we had a couple of mad flushes. At one point I estimate I had 40 birds in the air heading my way. Mind you a pair of guns and a loader would have been needed!!

Thanks for the comments guys though.

Also if anyone has any information on the Agnew & Sons Company I would be very grateful. I have tried researching them a bit on the web but there is not a lot out there.

Thanks

Jerry

Jerry, that looks like a lovely gun. To find out more about the maker, have you thought of writing to Bill Harriman at Shooting Times? The Letters page almost always has a query from an owner seeking more information about a vintage firearm. It might be worth a try?

Top tip, I think I will!

Thanks

Jerry
