activeviii Posted September 15, 2013 Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 I don't use metal as the combine blade are a bit on the expensive side to sharpen. 10" of Blackthorn is more than good enough,just push into the chin of bird and push into ground at and angle to pull the neck out and bum up. We just smoothed the feathers of the dead birds, stuffed their beaks in the ground and left them where they fell. Didn't prop their heads or any other fancy arrangement. It didn't deter them calling. Kind of like this but more of a V....
