JABB
I have an issue with my left ear and have been to the doc and hospital and they have kind of suggested they don't know what is wrong and left it at that. I am going to have another go as I now have tinitus too. Anyone have any NHS mini aids in one ear only and do you get on with it?

EMcC
I have 'hearing impairment' across the range in both ears but the NHS only issue one hearing aid, so if you get one make sure they fit it in the ear that is deficient. Pinkella
My mum had tinitus from an early of her childhood and always thought it was normal, until oneday I was so frustrated I begged her to get her hearing tested as it was driving me round the bend! Due to having tinitus it has impaired her hearing somewhat, she has had hearing aids in for over 8 years now and no problems at all, having longer cascading hair she can hide them as well. Look after them and you should be ok.

30-6
I have tinnitus in both ears and "hearing loss", not deafness in my left. People who are deaf are defined as NO hearing whatsoever. I wear an aid in the left ear. I had a row for not wearing it all the time, but was then told by another audiologist to wear it when i feel i need it. The best use i get out of it is when out shopping, while when in a noisy place e.g. a pub with a lot of background noise i find it a hinderance, even with altering the controls. Also very uncomfortable in hot weather, went to a cremation and seen the "T" symbol on the wall so switched it over to setting three, the microphone then comes straight to your ear, could hear the vicar wheezing. When i told the ENT guy i was a shooter he automatically suggested that was the problem, when i told him i always wore hearing protection, he told me there's no hearing protection invented that stops hearing loss from shooting. I think it was said the noise can travel through the bones in your head to affect your ears.
ukkat
i have hearing loss in both ears and severe tinitus, the hearing aids help with the tinitus, this was due to the shooting and have had them for the last 3 years. but in busy places they are bloody annoying and sometimes they itch alot. pigeon controller
I have lost the hearing in both ears , 50% in left and 25% in the right and tinnitus in both. I have two NHS hearing aids which I wear when out socialising . I have got on well with them but they do itch. I was amazed when I was told that shooter often loose the hearing in the left ear if you are right hand shooter.
ukkat
Something to do with the sound radius from the end of the barrel. Personally I blame my dad as I spent years sat next to him telling me how to shoot.
