starlight32
Looking for some advice from those out there with FAC Auto,s. Is pigeon/vermin control deemed a sufficient requirement to hold one on ticket? If you do hold one what are the limitations? Also I am told there are very few FAC shotguns on the market to buy, Correct? Most of the people I know who have them merely put them on ticket when the law changed so I cannot find out any good information.

Devon Fox
I have one for general vermin, there are shed loads around so you will have plenty of choice, i have an escort 5 on order, you can buy a standard semi and have it reverted back to a 5 shot. On your application, just request an fac shotgun, dont specify that you want a 5 shot etc, then you can get what ever you wish, i asked for 5 and thats what i got, shame because the fac escort comes as an 8 shot in standard fac mode! (next renewal will be adding to the capacity )
stevethevanman
Hi guys, a firearms shotgun is one that holds more than 2 rounds in the magazine, I think you are better of to stick with a regular shotgun because, when are you going to get the chance to shoot more than 3 shots at something unles you blow it to bits. As for pigeons, when are you going to have time to get more than 3 shots of because as soon as they hear the crack they are of. So in my opinion you are better of just sticking with a regular shotgun, unless you are shooting at something like a fox and just want to fill it with lead, then in that case it is absouloutley fine. does anyone else agree. Devon Fox
Well no! I do a lot of pick-up rabbit shooting, so this is perfect for taking care of lots of bolting rabbits, pigeon can come in thick and fast .... and not having to reload can be a serious advantage in a hide. Everyone will have have a different opinion, thats no bad thing
Wilky
I tend to agree with Hot Shot, I do a lot of shooting rabbits over the ferrets and I could use a five shot, you can guarantee a pair will bolt whilst your loading, mind you, that's where the running dog takes over. stevethevanman
It is your own opinion that counts if you want to buy one then go ahead.
CharlieT
Remember chaps that as with all fac applications it is need not fancy that the police look at. So if you have some serious vermin control to do you should have no problem in being granted one. As for the view that one is better to stick with a standard capacity auto as there is no need for more than 3 shots, well thats the view of the police. Hence you need to show a need to possess a 5+ shot one. Merry Christmas to everyone Charlie

Merry Christmas to everyone Charlie Charlie its Christmas and I really dont like to disagree but it is 'Good Reason' and not 'Need' that the law requires. It took me a whole year to prove the point between the two with my local Constabulary so I am (I know) rather pedantic about the terminology. By the way I have a multishot Escort for Pest Control on my FAC.

Would be ideal if they have a larger Mag as standard and are just plugged, save me having to buy a new gun as I already own one.
