How to you tell if a neighbour is dealing in drugs?

One thing I have noticed here is that there's a real trend to suggest that most folk think that all drug use is related to crime. I don't take pride in saying that I know quite a few casual users of just about every drug apart from heroin (I know a few of those too and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could kick them), but all but a couple of them are decent working class guys. In fact I would challenge you to spot them. It really isn't at all obvious and they tie it in with their every day work and social lives very well.

I have never taken an illegal drug in my life. Even in my teenage years I had quite a strong opinion against drugs and peer pressure didn't exist in my world. I was lucky to have a status at school where I could mingle with these lads but they would never try to pressure me into anything. I didn't feel the need to do it just because they were so the time went by quite smoothly. At the same time though I don't hold anything against them. Having a little social dabble with a few narcotics isn't the end of the world.

Seriously though, I'd just keep an eye on him. A lad using a bit of weed and passing some on to his mates is no big deal. It happens all the time in the teenage world and rarely comes to any more than just that.

That underlined above just shows how much some are out of touch with the real world.

(it's not a pop at you either, because I've quoted from your post by the way)

How many on this forum have druggies in the family who thieve/bleed/disrupt/breakup/separate families would agree with that ?

Its not the drugs it's the prohibition that causes all the problems, give em the drugs and they wouldn't feel the need to be members of the club you have listed above would they ? I bet most of the posters on here regularly get tanked up the only difference between them and you is the law and you believing your compliance with that law gives you the moral high ground , alcohol ruins far more lives and kills more people than any illegal drug ever has done or ever will do , it costs the taxpayer billions in policing and NHS treatment , not to mention all the " blokes" who regularly go down the pub and give the mrs a slap or two when they are drunk , talk about out of touch with the real world ...............

16 yr old, give the lad a chance me and all my mates tried most naughty stuff and sorted each other out at times. But we are all good working family men now, could well have been different if we had a criminal record to ****** us up. Keep an eye on him snd if u become sure have a friendly chat with him then parents if need be then cops if it persists. If he was a young orrible scrott id go to cops first but as u say hes a decent lad id give him a chance.

My sentiments exactly ;-)

Ring the POLICE, if he is dealing he obviously doesn't give a toss about the neibourhood that you live in.

Good advice, let the police know what you are seeing and let them decide, lots of little bits of intel enables them to build a bigger picture, and get lots of people in the chain,if you start "having chats"there may be a chance that you could be interfering with an ongoing investigation.

Tell the police, that is what they are there for,and if you are wrong they will find out one way or the other.

It needs nipping in the bud sharpish one way or the other,

If you speak to him and a week later the cops put the door in he will assume its you,

whatever happened the range rover with the blacked out windows is something you don't want in your street, and the dealers in it will exploit the lad till he just cant get out of the situation.

As Gordon has said Ring the cops and let them deal with it so you are not linked in any way.Its will bo doing the lad,the family and the neighbourhood a favour. He will probably just get a stern talking to.If he persists then he will be on the radar.

This is the best course of action to take.

Don't listen to all that rubbish about weed being the route of all evil. Our governments have done a fantastic job of fooling the masses into believing that one of the most useful plants on our planet is poison. It's their aim to keep the pharmaceutical companies raking in the dosh. Our laws have made many people suffer needlessly. Studies have shown that compounds found in cannabis can kill cancer cells....do they want you to know that ? As for the lad selling weed......at least he ain't out getting drunk and stamping on some random dudes head. Look at our towns and cities this weekend.....how many people will end up in A&E due to alcohol? How many from weed ? Have a guess ! Our government lies to us about most things, and yet most people are all too happy to accept their policy/ views on cannabis! Are we all really that stupid? Its a hugely beneficial plant...HEMP, strongest natural fibre around, planted in and around Chernobyl because its able to suck heavy metals and poisons out of the ground. WHY IS IT BANNED? Countries/ continents that would profit from it Africa, Afghanistan, India, Nepal,Pakistan, South America etc.....get the picture? The poor lot.

I think your confusing industrial hemp with THC producing cannabis. You can buy hemp seeds to eat or even fish with in the UK legally. You can even cultivate non THC producing strains legally. Thus, nobody (including our evil conspiring government) is trying to stop you from making hemp fibre clothes, removing radiation from disused power plants or curing cancer (how are you getting on with that by the way? I assume this is the main reason the kids are buying weed these days?!)

Our evil conspiring government ARE, however, stopping you from producing dangerous substances with possible links to schizophrenia and other personality disorders.

As for the OP... If there is no issue with your neighbour (he sounds like a good lad) leave him be, why grass him up? If in six months time you start getting unsavoury characters in your street at 3am have a word with him and say, "Just to let you know, a few of the houses on this street are twitching their curtains in your direction, cut it out or one of them is going to call the police".

Seems harsh to grass anyone up if they aren't causing you an issue. As for drug dealers being the scum of the universe... they answer a market need, they don't go around forcing chemicals down children's throats.

We should educate our kids to see sense and steer clear, not neglect the education and punish everyone involved when they break the law.

Phone the Police with the facts that you already have. Let them decide just what he is up to and whether it is worth pursuing.

I had a similar situation a few years ago.

Did just as Gordon suggested.

Police were great and discrete.

A couple of weeks later they did a raid and found that it wasn't just soft drugs.

It has to be done.

The choice is staggeringly simple, 1. Don't grass hi. Up to the plod (crimestoppers is truly anon) ans hope its just weed, that he's not a runner for some guy with an m 3 and he isint storing other things there under fear etcetc etc, and that a junky doesn't kick you back door in when at work for something nice to pay for his next fix. Or 2. Tell plod and let them deal with it. Maybe he's copying coursework but who knows, I bet plod with have an idea.

Should it be legit I'm sure they won't raid him. Either way if you don't tell them, and do have concerns, and other stuff goes on, maybe some violence or whatever due to a drugs debt or rival dealer popping round with his mate's to take the gear (happens daily) then you can't point the finger elsewhere.

As for some if the comments like dealers aren't all bad, I've met some really nice ones as well, wouldn't like to have been the guys they stabbed and shot when "working"

How can this thread run for three pages and people are still condoning drug dealing?.

Does the OP live in Amsterdam or is he confusing real life with watching repeats of The Wire? If yes, his neighbour's safe. Otherwise, it's a police matter.

All this guff about "he's low level" and "it's only weed" is pathetic. If you wish to live in a criminal-attracting area, then continue turning a blind eye.

3 pages! I cannot believe it went this far. Only one course of action, call the police.

If it was my lad dealing, or suspected of dealing I would hope that someone would do the right thing and report him. No good 'having a quiet word' or 'speaking to the parents', That will not carry the shock value of a visit from the boys in blue.

just my opinion.
