where to shoot

hi guys as the topic suggests I am not sure where to go on the farm I have to shoot over next Saturday, the farmer grows only oil seed rape and wheat and as most of land was covered in wheat last year so this year it is mostly rape with only 100 acres of wheat on the far side of the farm from where most of the birds roost. there is a decent patch of rape that no one has bothered to shoot not far from the nearest roost only about 300m. would anyone have any suggestions about if it would be better to shoot near a roost or not and any experience from people shooting over theses crops lately would be great thanks guys. I forgot to say I don't have the chance to get out and do and recon over the land otherwise I would.

Probs a bit hard for people to help out here as its hard to say were to shoot if no one knows what the birds are doing.

Maybe best if you get down to your permission nice and early and just have a brew and a watch.

See what they are up to, that's if they are about that is, all else fails you could have a roost in the wood.

Usually if there is a roosting wood on a field I'm shooting I like to stay as far away as possible, I think if you shoot to close to them then the birds will be pushed away from that roost and spoil our days shooting a bit.

Good luck anyway m8

The pigeons will let you know where to be. If there are no pigeons there, it obviously isn't worth setting up.

I would suggest staying away from a roosting wood normally. However, over the last couple of years I've shot big bags only a few hundred yards from a wood that holds a few thousand birds.
