Will Poon
Why does registered competitions have to be set on a weekends??? In this day and age where people work shifts, away from home , running their own business e.t.c.. Can the CPSA not run comps on the weekdays as well or is there really a lack of interest within the shooting community for reg comps on a week day? Your thoughts please fellow clay dusters Edited November 27, 2013 by Willpoon
glb8686
Because the weekend is the most popular time of the week for folk to have spare time. It's not rocket science.
Will Poon
Yes I understand that , but still there's plenty of people that shoot during the weekdays as well.
Abacist
If you look at the CPSA fixtures list you will see that there are some registered shoots during the week, in both summer and in winter!
Catamong
The CPSA don't run Registered competitions as you suggest. They are run by shooting grounds who operate on a commercial basis. All the CPSA do is to publish the fixtures and collate the scores. These grounds generally have to employ additional staff to run Registered shoots to act as scorers and most of these are working ful time elsewhere. Also, weekday shoots would not be viable for a lot of shooting grounds, they simply wouldn't get the number of entries to justify running the event. There are occassional weekday Registered events being run, EJ Churchils and Owls Lodge come to mind, but most grounds simply don't have the human resources available. Cat. Will Poon
Wake up and sniff the coffee! How many reg comps have you attended in the past 2 years or so ??
TIGHTCHOKE
How many reg comps have you attended in the past 2 years or so ?? Very few, but I used to shoot an awful lot including many of the championships. I also Referee at many. Sunday has traditionally been the day for one day registered shoots of most disciplines, only the championships and the big sponsored shoots run over weekdays leading up to the Sunday Finals. Ropemunky
I would say getting away in the week is even harder for someone who is self employed. We don't get sick pay or holiday pay so cannot throw a sickkie or such. So I would have to sacrifice a days wages then pay to shoot on top of that,
MITCHF
35% suggest the OP has a point , if I work a weekend I have to shoot in the week. Each to their own I guess.

Your thoughts please fellow clay dusters Hi Will A couple of years back MCSC held a reg'd sportrap on a Wednesday, I think this only attracted a maximum of 15 entries per shoot, so as much as grounds put them on (especially in the North West) Numbers don't permit reg's weekday shoot! Cheers Rich

Cheers Rich I shot all of those, it was a great shoot and nice idea but as you say Richard very poorly attended. There were quite a few people shooting at the ground itself when they were held, just people were not interested in doing the comp & just wanted to practice or have a knock about with mates. The same reg'd sportrap but held on a Sunday was busy which kind of answers the question. A lot of the championships, British open etc. are held over several days and I quite often shoot those mid week, but they are something special so you get the numbers attending mid week.
