Then shot it again re-entry and got 54ex70, I normally do worse the second time round I don't want to talk about the pool shoot Pin you shot really well yesterday. Well done on your re-entry score, if only we could have both done that on the first round eh? Yes I agree it was a tough layout, but very enjoyable. Cat walked away with some prize money so sausage and egg butties and cakes on him next time. Pool shoot, hmmm tricky but we did alright didn't we? At least we didn't score 3 on our first effort Well, I'd have to admit my first effort on the pool shoot was a tad disgraceful, (3 ex 10), but you forgot to mention I was so annoyed I went straight back in and shot a 10..!! I got the impression that Jonesy was thinking too much about how many cakes she could devour during our break in the clubhouse, remember the saying "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips", and yes, next time the sausage & egg rolls are on me...!! I only had 1, granted it was the size of a dinner plate but god those cakes are marvellous at Four Counties. I walked briskly from the clubhouse to the car so that cancels out all those calories and it cured my hangover a treat. Spaniel Posted February 5, 2007 Report Share Posted February 5, 2007 Went to the Litts shooting ground today in Wales. First 2 stands I completly cocked up..... After that calmed right down and really took my time , only hit 54/100 but at least i started to hit approx half of what i was shooting at.. Going down the gun fitters on Weds to get the gun tested out as sometimes i am shooting down the lHS of the target...could be a bit of Left eye dominence kicking in...for what ever reason as i can sometimes see the left hand side of the barrels, and i also want to look at the triggers being made slighty softer as i do tend to pull of the target when firing.. Spaniel Posted February 6, 2007 Report Share Posted February 6, 2007 Hi Martin I have not been down there as yet, but was only chatting about it yesterday to be honest. I think it works out about £16 for 50 clays plus cartridges and Mendip have some very good targets, so i am told. Im going to get my gun checked over tomorrow and hopefully next week (Depending on when the gun is ready) i can get out to do some more shooting. I have been told that there is a clay shot near Chippenham on a Saturday, so I may start going there. Just need more practice etc.. Catamong Posted February 19, 2007 Report Share Posted February 19, 2007 Am I the only one to admit to shooting yesterday...?? Went to Doveridge for their last 100 Registered Winter Series Sporting. A super ground, well run by the Bramley family since the departure of the previous "Hooray Henry" owners. Thick cloud on the way up there, (and on the way back), but lo & behold, Doveridge was bathed in bright sunshine, which, as regulars will know, is a real ****** if they're using the south side of the valley, 'cos a number of stands are straight into the sun. I started OK, only missed one over the first 3 stands, but one by one the wheels came off, and I carded a below par 82. It was a toughie, everybody was struggling, I've no doubt that somebody shot a 95 later in the day when the sun had moved round. Let's hope they get it sorted for the England Team selection shoot on 17/18 March, they've got so much ground to use, there's simply no reason why any birds should be put through the sun. So how did everybody else do..?? I heard on the grapevine that Jonesy shot a brilliant score at Longridge, hopefully she'll tell all, nice to hear you're still beating most of the blokes..!! Cat. Jonsey Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 Hmm not sure it was brilliant Cat but thanks for the encouragement, my score card wasn't pretty but it's definitely a better score than of late so i think all the help you've given me is sinking in now. Thanks. I went to Longridge Shooting Ground in near Ledbury, 6 of us went and shot together it was a good day but with a squad of 6 took ages. Longridge is never easy you have to work hard all the way round the layout. Started on the pool shoot and then had a very shaky first 2 stands dropping 9 targets and then had a good old talking to myself whilst walking to the next stand. It seemed to work and I finished on 78. Trouble is I was 1 away on 5 stands four of which were last targets so if I could have held my concentration/nerve better I would have had a score in the 80’s. I’m a bit annoyed with myself about that and have to learn to straight stands consistently. It was a very aggressive course, 3 stands of simo pairs which were fast and tricky, there were 2 stands of very fast crossers which needed masses of lead and you had to really get on with and 2 stands of targets below your feet. Still it was a good days shooting. I was 2nd in B when I left but don’t think it will have stayed that way. Anyway looking forward to the England Team Selection shoot at Doveridge in March, let’s hope the targets and weather are good. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also shot for the first official time at 100yds with a .22LR and didn't to too badly Average score over 8 targets (10 at each) was about 93 ish. Lord Geordie Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 Did kind of OK today Took the W R Leeson and the Lanber to the Clay club and ended up bringing 4 Guns home B) Shot ok first round of skeet with the SbS getting 21 for 25 Second round was bad at IIRC 17 for 25 Then i took the Lanber out on DTL and got 20 for 25 due to having to press the button then taking the shot (no delay ) Then i bought 2 Semis 1 Baikal 12g semi auto And the second (ANOTHER) Baikal Semi Bought a Pair of matching semi's Took the Semi on Skeet forst and got a 23 for 25 Then onto the DTL and another 22 for 25 They shoot well and for the money i am well happy. Need a little cleaning and one took me an HOUR to strip and clean down it was in a right mess with what looked like 25 years of gunk and crud stuck all over the internals B) Had to strip the Bolt carrier completely and clean out the **** the thing was gleaming when i finished Good pigeon guns and having a close look when i stripped one they are extremely well built (better quality than the Escort All in all well chuffed LG Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Suffolk shooter Posted February 24, 2007 Report Share Posted February 24, 2007 Shot with MC today over at RAF Wattisham at the Army Clay Club. First time out with my newly cast gun. Weather was a bit wet, windy, but still enjoyable none the less. Well went on to the first stand and straighted it 10 ex 10. Was well pleased, the gun felt good when mounting and seemed to shoot exactly where i was looking. Trouble is the wheels then came off big time after that. Managed to score 16 ex 40 So carded 26 ex 50 for the first round. Now a couple of the stands had difficult birds on, but even so to shoot like that made me wish I'd kept the gun before the cast took place. Had one stand where for some reason I kept getting hit on the cheek every shot, I know this is down to my cheek not being on the stock properly, but to do it everytime I guess I have to retrain my neck and brain to the cast of the gun now it's been altered. Second round I carded 31 ex 50, but again I struggled with the mount two stands managing 9 ex 10 and then went to pot on the others. MC carded a 34 and 40 ex 50 respectively. (MC-Keep telling you those ***** cartridges and Gun are the mutts nuts ) Can't wait for Lakenheath on Friday, looking to improve DRAMATICALLY. Bought a Beretta 686 whilst I was there - I have recently outed a gun and have a spare slot in the cabinet. I will see how I get on tomorrow, but I don't expect any problems - have shot with a mates one on and off and like all Berettas I expect that it will come up nicely and shoot straight. Anyway, shot it today and it'll do nicely for me. Very pointable. Matt aka "LouisValentine" will be coming with me from Brentwood on Friday morning. Anyone wanting a lift up or along the A12, let me know. P.S. Are we "booked in" or the like for the day's shooting i.e. do they know we are coming / have they made provision for 20 bodies shooting all day who normally wouldn't be there - if they run out of bacon there will be murders.
