chacotawas
Ghosts- ever seen one? I saw one once as I was walking home on a dark country road in a fog. There it was- a dim white figure. Obviously a ghost. Then it spoke: "Moo!", it said. But a good friend and ex-colleague of mine, Dr.E. lived as a student in a haunted house on Sherrifmuir, near Stirling when a student at Stirling University. This is the straightest, most honest, down-to-earth guy you ever met.... and he comes from Croydon Things moved around the room; doors opened by themselves; lights switched on while they were at the pub; a couple of visitors saw a cat in the living room- one the students didn't see. They weren't ALWAYS drunk! I had another colleague, again a very sane, highly-qualified academic who as a child and youth lived in a house where those kind of things were every day experiences. I totally believe what they have told me, but I also believe that everything is natural and if unexplained things happen they're just that- unexplained things that we just haven't got around to understanding yet. Anybody had such experiences? What d'you think? Edited December 4, 2013 by chacotawas

rimfire4969
No. Edit: just thought I would add I don't understand why something that can walk through walls bothers to open and shut doors. shootnfish
I think i have but in not sure but it was definatly spooky. It was about 20 years ago when i was carp fishing for a couple of nights on a local lake called boreham mere in a swim called the hotspot. After i had gone to sleep for the night in not sure what time maybe between 2 / 3 am i remember feeling what felt like pressure on my legs as i opened my eyes i could see 6 to 8 faintly glowing snooker ball sized objects ( they must of been glowing if they were there as it was pitch black)hovering in the center of my bivvi but they seemed to moving around in a tight group. They were there for about maybe 5 seconds then disappeared. Now at the time i was a bit creeped out but i just thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me where i had just woke up. By the way i hadn't been drinking or on the wacky baccy and it was before that **** programs most haunted and their so called orbs. Anyway i went back to sleep. In the morning i just mentioned it to me mate said i had a wierd dream nothing more was said. Now here comes the bit that sent a chill down my spine, a couple of weeks after we were down there again and got talking to abloke we had not met before and during the conversation he said to me and my mate "either of you had the dream yet?" Not thinking nothing of what had happened to me we said no what's that then? He went on to explain that sometimes when people have done a night in a swim called the "Hot Spot" they have a dream where they are woken up by a felling of someone sitting on their bedchair or a feeling of their sleeping bag being pulled. Me and my mate just looked a each other a bit freaked out. Turns out that apparently years before an old boy was fishing that swim had a heart attack fell in and drowned. so i might of seen a ghost, fished there many many times after that but never had it again. countryman
I don't know what it was, but a few weeks ago i was looking at some pics on my phone of my daughter in her Landrover, when i zoomed in there was a man sitting in the back seat, we had just power washed it down at my yard, there was only me, my wife and daughter there, the photo was taken by me back in the summer she was defiantly on her own in there, it freaked her right out when i showed it to her the other day. I wanted to send the pic some ware for it to looked at but she did not. Chris
Paddy Galore!
although i haven't seen one, i was on the receiving end of a door to the chops a couple of weeks back, it was leant in the frame of a cupboard, i heard someone running up the stairs of a flat, took a step back to see who it was, then got a smack in the kisser from the door. after a bit of swearing i had a look around to see who was about only to find the flat empty, the business with the door got me thinking too, i didn't feel any gust of wind or anything like that but the door managed to defy gravity and fall out of the frame. my wife reckons she's seen one on several occasions where she works, there's plenty of people who've died there so i guess it could be true. bruno22rf
Yep-so often that we had the vicar round to bless each room in the house and ask the spirit (a young girl) to move on. The church actually have specialists that you can call on in severe cases! Never believed in ghosts until these events about 7-8 years ago. fenboy
Not seen one ------but I did have a strange experience my grandmother had been suffering from cancer and her passing was imminent so the family was gathered around her bed. She had been in a semi coma for two or three days and was unable to speak , but as she took her last few breaths she sat bolt upright in bed and said " I have to go , John is here" John was my grandfather and had died five years earlier. MBW
I've always believed these sorts of paranormal things have some sort of proper explanation but its interesting nonetheless, once when I was a trainee keeper I was sleeping in an old bothy out on the hill and I kept being woken by the feeling of someone tickling my feet and pulling my toes through my sleeping bag, I'm sure there must be a reasonable excuse but I did often wonder how many old keepers or poachers ghosts roamed the hills looking to freak out daft young lads, one of the lads I work with now as a grave digger swears every time he is working in one of the old cemetery's out in the countryside that he hears child's laughter and has seen a little boy dressed in old fashioned clothes sitting below a yew tree but when he did a double take there was nothing there, I always put this down to wacky baccy he smoked at lunchtime. I do quite fancy the idea of ghosts wandering about among us Id love to go around haunting my friends and family once my time comes
Blunderbuss
http://www.nottinghampost.com/H/story-20258751-detail/story.html People believing that vague smudges on random photos are 'ghosts' just maximises the comedy value for me.
