My own opinion is that they are handing the country over to private business to run so they should take a pay cut not expect equity with private industry.

With their expenses and second homes allowance they already get the equivalent of two salaries from taxpayers plus they're allowed to earn what they want in other jobs.

"We're all in it together" I should cocoa!!

if you went to a FTSE 250 company and looked at what a senior executive earns as a package its going to be north of £150 to £250k more in London Directors £250 to £500k, if it was down to me i would have total transparency over salary expenses & perks, politicians should be invited to serve anyone who actually wants to be a politician should automatically be disallowed.

pay a salary that attracts the best for the job not the usual middle class solicitors and punters straight from Uni with an Ology

Let's have a return to the old days, when MPs did not receive a salary at all.

Salaries were only introduced so the Labour Party could afford to have MPs because the Tories & Liberals were mainly rich landowners who saw Parliament as a public service and were happy (and could afford) to sit for nothing.

Pay peanuts, get monkeys. An independent review panel sets the new salary, so pay them the proposed amount.

Go on then, I'll roll with that one. Means test them and if they don't earn enough elsewhere they can have the increase.

I suppose my statement is more of a rhetorical one....we all know they do have other interests....the clever ones have their wives in charge of said interests....i.e. Nick Clegg
