conor
hello all, i am buying a cz 452 which comes with two barrel lengts 16" and the longer one is 22" i think. is there performance differences between the two? will be using it with a sak mod and sub sonic ammo. will the bullet drop more at 100yds with the 16" barrel? will be using it for shooting foxes at 250yds :look: :yp: thanks conor
Peter_HMR
Yes there are preformance distances but they're not huge. The .22lr is a powder burning cartrigde obviosly and i dont know exact figures or anything but afaik it burns most of the powder in the first 10-15inches. After that the velocity only goes up a small bit. Do some googling for the figures or someone else here might know and you can make up your mind weather its acceptable. The longer barrel wont make any difference to accuracy as such once a bullet is stabilised thats it some pistols can be made to shoot better groups than rifles but it does give you that extra bit more velocity and power so its up to you if you need it. If your shooting out of a vechile the smaller one is obviously going to be better for handling personally if its a detecated rabbit gun id go for the longer barrel unless its going to crete problems for you. conor
thanks psittacosis, yes will be shooting from a veichle, grey crows and magpies mainly range 130yds max as i have the 223 for longer ranges. and i want something quiet for around the house, few horses about. conor
Frank
conor, the .22lr using subsonic ammo is at its best out to 80 yds max, any further and i would not, personally myself, take the shot at live vermin. :look: Frank.
conor
thanks frank, i dont have a clue about subs have only ever shot 22 with normal rounds. will normal rounds still be quiet with a mod?

Peter_HMR
How about a .17hmr with a SAK mod on it its by no means silent but i wouldnt call it loud and can take anything out to 200 yards with it. Dont think id have a problem shooting near horses with it
