Please be gentle my offering is a lowly Hatsan Escort Mossy Oak 12G

Nothing wrong with a Hatsan in my book, sure the early ones could be a bit cartridge length and weight sensitive but that’s not unique in s/a’s. My old gen 2 never let me down and the chap I sold it to has it as his only gun. Enjoy yours and post your progress with it. Maybe like Skoda’s the joke is wearing a bit thin?

Snoozer it's a semi automatic, make has nothing to do with it.

I know people who live them, never had a problem with many thousands through them.

Good value new gun along with the A612.

I still have two a Maxus one all black for fowling and the Benelli Super Sport has over the last few months became my main clay gun. Love the lighter weight and balanced swing with a Briley mag cap weight.

This i have had an escort 20 bore nearly ten years its had thousands of rounds through it, and its never given trouble with anything i wanted to shoot, it does not like hull high pheasant but neither do i so its not been a problem.

Most i shoot is reloads steel and some exotic shot , and about the only grip i have with my Hatsan is that my version has Huglu type choke threads so only carlsens do chokes for it and i could not get any.

However the latter version has REM choke threads so is a lot eassier to get good after market chokes for.

I get by with the IM / 3/4 choke though its doing good patterns for steel and Bismuth/ other non tox loads.

Absolutely lovely gun, Congratulations on your purchase. I have just ordered a black/gold as my 525 is going. I have always had an auto ( started out with a franchi Raptor, it was one of my first shotguns). I have a maxus in the cabinet as I’m following the rule of “fear the man with one gun” but for my purposes it’s “ fear the man with an identical collection of the same gun😂” as my scores go from 60% with any O/U to 75/85% with an auto.  I was in the states a while back and browning have a maple version which is a beauty but it’s not available in the UK.

Hey All.....

Clay Shooter only, but I have Benelli Super Sport that I wouldn't sell. Its my third Benelli... had a Comfortec as my first SA just to have one and soon upgraded to the Supersport. Then in a moment of madness did a Trade with it ..... had to then bust the bank to go get another a few months later hence the, wouldn't sell..... knew it was a mistake as soon as I let it go.

Also very recently bought a Beretta A400 Xcel to go with the collection that has yet to go out for its debut. But, I am looking for someone who imports Briley Bolts and Bolt Release as I want them in Silver and the action is black so the contrast would be nice. Plus the bolt isn't the most attractive .... Can someone recommend an Importer, Supplier or another manufacture of that produce something of similar ? Tinter Web isn't being very helpful at the moment.

Hi originalgeezer,

if you have any success with finding an importer could you let me know please. I have been scouring the internet for the same components for my maxus to no avail. I have rang various companies in the USA, all will ship to the uk but at a cost of $60.

The only complaint with my maxus is the bolt handle, it feels a poor product when compared to the overall quality of the gun.

cheers

I’ve got an FAC browning maxus, I’m looking to tart it up, I’ve got an enlarged bolt release handle, wanting to fit a broiler bolt handle as well. I’d love a bigger magazine! The only way I can think of doing it is to fit the mag tube from the new A5 (they have the same thread) then customise the existing hand guard and fit a Nordic components mag tube kit

Mate is selling his S1 Maxus. Now he has the Al391 Light the Maxus doesn't get used, so is considering having the Beretta mag' extended to make it S1.

Am considering having my Benelli Super 90 chopped and Teagued, and received a price for the work today. Not prohibitive, but insistent on reproof.

eventually got round to fitting the sling on my maxus.

on one of the estates i shoot over i have hundreds of acres of ancient woodlands to roam and the deeper you go the more wild and breathtaking it becoames. only thing is its an aweful lot of walking hence the sling to make things a bit easier on the arm!

lovely gun !! congratulations

Thanks. I really like the maxus range and struggle to fault them. The speed load function is very slick. How does your sling fit? Is it comfortable over a good walk as I’m thinking of getting one myself.

cheers

My local gunshop now refuses to stock any Browning Maxus due to the volume of trouble they've had with them, out of the dozen plus they've previously sold nearly every one of them was returned with cycling problems,i was on the verge of buying one myself until they advised against it,i'll stick with my Beretta AL391 Xtrema 2,can't fault it!

Farmboy

For reviews your best looking on shotgun world the American forum.

If i was buying it would be Armsan 612 proven gun and well known and liked. Few reports of problems, reliable nice handling.

Seen online stoeger industries.com offer 5 year limited warranty, if that's same in UK you can't go wrong. Becomes a disposable gun.

I did watch a couple yank ones on YouTube, I have looked and do like the 612, stoger would cost me a fiver more + my rfd did say it has a 5 year warranty.

He also said it had the benelli inertia system, seems a bargain at less than £400

I will give that forum a look to though, thanks figgy.

The affinity has 7 year so get one two or under and you will have same amount of warranty for around the same or little more than the Stoeger.

Few for sale on guntrader, a very nice sporting model with Matt dark silver action at Brierly guns for  £495 looks in mint condition. Bit of haggling and a good deal might be had.

blimey how strange, i know just as many people with them and not one has had any issues with theres, last week we put over 4000 carts through one in 5 days- no cleaning, no oiling and it never missed a beat!

ideally you need the browning sling so it fits in the claw on the fore end, however i wanted a para cord one so i just used a ring that just fits in the claw although it isnt perfect and only just fits. the stock end i just drilled and fitted the swivel. comfort wise its fine, hardly notice it really. like you have a fair bit of a hike to get to some of the areas i can shoot so its certianly more comfortable than holding it for several miles
