Semi Auto Club

Great club to be a part of! I have a Hatsan escort xmax. Great gun. It cycles everything with ease. Even the light 21g shells.

Well I took my mossy to the illustrious Wabbitbosher due to the cycling problem I had.

Turns out it had an "odd looking" ejector claw, a loose barrel pin (that encourages the cart to flip out upon ejection), and a broken firing pin spring! Not noticeable to my newbie eyes but there you go!

Anyway, wabbitbosher had it all sorted quicktime, and I came away with a fixed Semiauto that now seems to cycle ok, and in addition, a nearly new Escort pump!! I just can't leave his place without buying another gun! It's addictive!! Haha!

Anyway, here's a photo. Unfortunately not the best (taken with iPhone)......

I recently bought a Mossberg 9200.

Seem to have mixed reviews on the net, but it certainly seems sturdy enough to me! Feels good in you hands too.

One question for the more knowledgable semi auto owner, is there anything I can do to help my gun cycle carts under 70mm? Or is it literally just one of those things that semis can't do?

My Franchi will cycle anything.

I started my collection with a brand new Hatsan Escort. I use it for pigeons and clays and it's never missed a beat. Can't understand some peoples issues around semi autos and it does wind me up that some people look down their noses at them. Being ex military I'm more than comfortable with them and it was my first choice when I looked to buy my first shotgun. Easy reloads and three shots what's not to like? I also own an over and under, side by side and a .410 bolt action but still use the Hatsan as a first choice on most outings.

I've had my Remy 1100 for about 10 years now. Skeet choked 26" barrels which I've used for Olympic skeet, wild fowling . Pigeon devoting and rough shooting. Very versatile gun .

It's the second one I've had, a lot smoother than the first one which tended to make a clunk sound as it recycled. Only downsides are can't shot steel and can't cycle 24g apart from that really nice gun.

How many skeet world records are held by 1100's ? Great pedigree of competition success.

At the moment I have a Franchi 712 - 28" barrel Multichoke in advantage camo, it will take 3" shells and I have bought it for Pigeon and Wildfowling, in the past I have had a Berretta Ulrika and a Remington 1100.

Still getting used to this one, but still managed 11 Pigeons for 15 shots on its 1st outing last week.

Didn't like s/a, same as realtree camo... Bought one and love it -not for every type of shooting, but for a lot of types of shooting they are great!

Doesn't matter if it's a cheap 2nd hand gun or a brandnew one -as long as it does the job it's a very effective tool.

That really summs it up for me: a sxs sometimes is a work of art. An o/u can be a very nice gun. A s/a is a shooting tool -but a very good tool!

Own a Hatsan Escort (Black Synthetic) and love it. Use it for decoying, roosting, squirreling and general vermin control.Put anything through it and never misses a beat. Take it when ever I am out feeding or checking traps and dont worry about just chucking in the back of the truck covered in mud.

Also shoot better with it than by silver pigeon.

Just bought the escort field hunter pump, great fun and really solid feel to it!

Can you get those larger slide handles for any gun, or just browning?

Wouldn't mind one of those on my Mossberg!

It came from the states where there seem to be after market parts for most makes. I don't know about escorts though. I'm sure you could find one that fits if you look.

A FAC 7+1 and a 3 1/2 inch grunter! Both chuck out 28g cartridges all day long!

Beretta A400 Xtreme Unico 28" 3.5" Chamber - i treated myself to a brand new one lol.

a few of it assembled

A picture of the stock with the Kick-Off system - had to put the biggest spacer on it at the minute, once i did that the gun fit me perfect! i have fired a 25 box of 50grams through it and i didnt feel it, so the Kick-Off system definitely works. It also came with other spacers of different sizes which may come in handy if i have to layer up in the cold...

One of the Receiver - Once i got home after its first use, i fully stripped and cleaned the gun... i was quite suprised at the amount of dirt!

A quick question... On the box it says to use 32gram + loads for the 'initial running-in period'

How many Cartridges does it take to 'run it in'? i've fired 25 50gram cartridges through it but then took it to my local clay ground where i can only use 28gram, so put 125 28gram cartridges through it. Would it be wise to go somewhere else and carry on using bigger loads for a bit longer or will i be alright? i have a slab of 32gram if needs be

Bought a secondhand benelli mancino left hooker as i have never owned a dedicated L/H shotgun be it S/A or O/U and promised myself one before i get to old to shoot,I am what is called locally as corriejukit (spelling) right handed but left eye dominant so always shot left handed ,previous owner only put 150 shells through it and my pal says at the price i got it for i did not buy it i stole it as the condition is as new with everything that came with it when bought new, getting used to it but it was a struggle as its so light ,its recoil operated and its so clean after use compared to the gas operated guns ,do not notice any difference in the kick as some members have mentioned and to be honest the wife had a shot with it and was okay with it yet my E rizzini knocked her on her ar'se (she calls it the elephant gun), so to conclude in my opinion for what its worth the benelli is a well made gun and a pleasure to use compared to my LOS franchi.

johnnie

if i was to be really picky,, the case is the standard right hand benelli case so the bolt handle is facing down when laid in the case

Thanks. I will have a look. My semi auto is a Mossberg not an escort, so chances are the yanks will have something to fit!

If no joy in getting one Any competant turner could make one up for you as long as you give him your handle as a template of the pin assuming its the standard type pin with a slot,i am a great believer in keeping the workers in beer money and keeping my shooting related costs down. :good:
