Ferretboy111
Im not really sure whether there is a answer for this question, but as ive bought a savage pump which has a full fixed choke wil i be needing to change my cartridges to compensate this? Pigeons are the dish of the day for this beauty, i usually shoot 32grm 6's, the trouble with decoying is that sometimes they come close n sometimes they dont. Any views appreciated. stevethevanman
the trouble is, with 32g of 6's at em at close range on full choke, there will be no point saving them(too mashed up).

Ferretboy111
Well tried it on pigeons today, and it worked really well, i didnt miss much, and was taking pigeons way over 40yrds with it, surprisingly. Ive confirmed that its great for pigeons, poor for close range bolting rabbits, i dare say it would be peachy for pheasants aswell, not that ill use it for a game gun. starlight32
I have started using 3/4" & Full on my multi choke, ok with it. Just remember though, whatever you do don't put any steel loads through that gun on that choke!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ferretboy111
Umm, why not shoot steel with full choke for? Alex
pin
Steel doesn't deform the same way as lead, therefore the pressures that build in the gun can be a lot higher than with lead. It is possible that you could damage the gun with these pressures by using more than half choke.
bobby t
also with steel, the shot doesn't deform meaning you get almost perfect tight patterns, anything tighter than half can be too tight and damage the choke, because of it patterning quality, apparently in the us you can get steel shot in 8's and clay cartdriges especially intended for skeet.
