PW CATTON RIFLE SHOOTING WEEKEND 17/18TH MAY 2014

I would dearly love to do something similar to what i did in Denmark last June as it was brilliant fun and a fantastic test of real world shooting capability but it just requires too much infrastructure. There were about 40 of us there and it was massive, i would estimate that there will be 10-15 people at this who will be keen to do some form of prize shoot so i will start a list.........

Who wants to enter a 5 round, buy in (couple of quid for targets) field shoot winner takes all bragging rights, any centrefire rifle, max range 300 yards?

Copy this post and add your name to the list, i will run it but not shoot so i have added a few usual suspects who i think will do it.

Sparkie?

Dougie?

Grandalf?

Amazed?

Nice one - can I be official photographer again?

Only comment I have is that you didn't put enough of your photographs on PW.

We had many more in previous years from several contributors.

I, for one, didn't take many photographs last year because you were always there.

Your pictures were excellent quality but few in numbers.

Taking them with a lower resolution means you can put them straight on the web without doctoring them later.

Respectful regards

Ben

  • 2 weeks later...

I hope me and my mate will be coming again this year as last year was brillent. I would like to put out a request if that is ok?

can anyone with any type of night vision bring it with them so we can compair. I don't mean to shoot with as we have been told we need to stop shooting by a set time I would like to just have a look around with them to compair all the difference's. would anyone be willing to help me with this please? And would this be ok with skarkie and Carl?

Just had a thought about our 'competition'.

How about small (3" ?) gong targets set at 1/2/3/400 yards.

Not set to exact 100's of yards but thereabouts - (+/- 35 yards say).

No adjustment to sights or rifle after first shot.

Lowest number of shots to hit all 4 targets.

Maximum of 10 shots allowed.

3 minutes maximum allowed.

No prior practice on these targets before the competition.

No range finders allowed either.

As long as the gongs are on a fairly loose chain so there is no doubt about a hit - it is easy to mark.

No paper targets and no running up and down the range area.

(I'm getting/got old)!

Was nice to see some of you at Catton yesterday and put some more names to faces. A pleasurable day with reggiegun n son and Fruitloop. Also met porkchop and 204rem nice to meet you pair. Here's to the next pre ow meet shoot 23rd march.

Yea you cost me £62 in ammo for my lads rifle, while he was trying to hit them long range onions with you lol.

Sounds fun :)

Well done Grandalf, thanks for volunteering, I look forward to it. You will feel old after running that comp. Time to re-barrel the Middlestead me thinks!

I must admit though boys, I have been thinking deeply about Catton and come to one conclusion.............................

I decided on a Rib-Eye for this year's BBQ since my steak consumption seems to cause huge amusement.
