crowdie2013
I despair. If you've nothing sensible to say, say nothing. If you do choose to ignore my advice at least try and abuse me in english or a variant understood by most I appreciate your despair, being bottom of the table, arrogant bawbag
Mr-Sheen
That seems a bit unnecessary. It's just a game of rugby chap so maybe you should stick to football if you want to play childish games and start name calling.
Big Al
Yes I do remember it well, In a song " those were the days " etc etc but it would be great to see them again I read a really good book on that whole 5 nations season leading up to the famous Calcutta Cup match - "The Grudge" It looks a lot at the people behind that match, especially Jim Telfer and Brian Moore. English or Scottish, it's a brilliant read. It shows that match in the Broader context.
Scully
If l'm not mistaken !! .. hasn't Warren Gatland been quoted as saying " Wales are the best team in Europe, "but" wont win the 2014 six nations championship ... if that true "and it is !" .. does he become a hate figure for the Welsh? No.He would have to be English for that to happen.
hedd-wyn
C'mon gents lets not get too personal. This thread had a good track record so would be s shame if it got locked. A bit of **** take is fine and expected. England unlucky yesterday, Wales one win in the bag. Looking forward to the clash of the Celts this afternoon (without a hangover)

Thankyou. Well said, a sport that you can take the kids to without fear of anything untoward happening, and fans of both sides get together for a pint. Now who is going to win this match,my money is on ireland, but if scotland can hold on in the opening stages they might get lucky.

Big Al
Scotland still have a long way to go. Yes, unfortunately. But the Scottish play in the first half reminded me of the 80s and 90s Jim Telfer style - hard rucking, physical, relentlessly harassing opponents with bloody-minded determination. But like you say, still a way to go.
rapid rich
Stand up for the ulster men................. Here here, nice to see Trimble doing the business. Can't help but think he was often overlooked for Ireland selection. 5 Ulster men start, not surprising considering Ulster record this season. SUFTUM Well done Ireland , Rich
big bad lindz
A good game but a pity about the score. Ireland deserved the win and well done to them. The first two Irish try’s developed from (IMO) a lazy Scottish line out throw in and then the non hooked ball from a scrum. Silly costly mistakes. After that Scotland did not look as they would make a come back. But what a pleasure to hear the quiet crowd when either side were taking kicks at goal shows, respect to the kicker, players and the game itself from the fans. Its a pity that whistling and booing takes place at other venues, maybe its something that the supporters at the other venues take on board, could be led by the TV/press and over the stadium tanoys. So two teams licking their wounds clash next week but as much as I dont want to say it I think I know who will come out on top, and two others who are both capable of going onto to win the tournament will have a great head to head contest, but will no doubt have to go onto beat France and not lose against England or someone else beats England at the later stage. At least I will be at home and be able to watch them with something tastier than coffee to slurp

hoggysreels
Ireland looks the threat. ... as always! ... Wales look very beatable... Scotland seem to have hit a drystone wall .. France must be favourite ... England, difficult to say at the moment Have to disagree, ireland had brief moments of brilliance but never showed their potential against a weak scotland, they will have to up their game to become contenders. France and england both played a hard game, but that doesn't mean they are the best,England have tended to try brute force and this has not been working lately, the French well who can say they have flashes of brilliance but their next game could be a disaster, that is how they play. Wales, agreed a slow game, but against an opponent that they should have beaten, at times it looked like Wales were trying out things, they haven't shown what they are capable of, lets not forget on the pitch on saturday were 9 of the Lions team,Wales have had a taste of winning and will still want that, Would i call it at this stage, no way. As an Irishman, I completely concur. Ireland will need to maintain the intensity they are capable of for a whole game - the way they did against the All Blacks in order to become championship contenders. And then do it for the next 3 games too. That said, the winning habit is with the Irish provinces. Next week v. Wales will be a huge one. Can't wait! Aled
Interesting comments guys, agreed we should keep banter as banter! Italy look like they have found a couple of backs who can play create a bit they've been crying out for some for a while. Wales, went through the motions but do not look like championship conteneders. Irealnd, v Scotland: Scotland had some chances to score but did not! Ireland were pretty impressive. England i felt sorry for , but that missed line out on the 5 ysard line cost dear! France stuck at it though, nver trust the French! Another busy week before it all stlarts again on Saturday! Cheers Aled Edited February 4, 2014 by Aled
guest1957
Hopefully we will see a more sensible approach to substitution from Lancaster and a bit more time spent getting balls on target from T Youngs.
