Ok I have tried S.Wales 2000 ground and Treetops so are there better in my area , thinking of joining a club this year as I have sold my

game and wildfowling guns and bought o/u specifically for clays after 45 years of game and rough shooting as just wasn't doing much

as I use to ,enjoying the Sunday morning and Saturdays too sometimes , I live near Abergavenny and the nearer to me the more likely I

am to use it and become a member .

Other than South Wales and Treetops there are no other commercial grounds in the area.

Got to disagree with that, St Dials is very close to abergavenny! http://www.hartevents.org/What's%20on%20.aspx Wales sporting qualifier this weekend one of the few registered shoots on regularly and growing FITASC venue! on mostly through the summer twice a month.

There is also a nice DTL/ABT ground at Nelson 20 min from SW2000 open every wednesday and sunday, not on the same scale as SW2000/Mid wales mind, further out there is Crynant near Neath, Woodland park near Brecon (might be close to you) http://www.wpshoot.co.uk/shootingfacilities and a few more sunday clubs (foresters arms, llandaff, etc) check the WCTSA for more details http://wctsa.co.uk/page/clubs.aspx

Didn't mention Nelson as I assumed being a rough shooter/wild fouler he'd be looking to shoot proper targets not trap.

It was the "no other commercial grounds" i was disagreeing with. I assume you can just shoot 300/300 at DTL then...............

Yes Monmouth is close to Abergavenny how does it compare with Treetops and s.wales 2000 , is there a long wait for traps , been shooting 50 mixed bird practise , use to shoot DTL but treetops had sporting layout Sunday (1st time I have been there since it was Litts) Im looking for clayground Im happy to join and need coffee and bacon rolls to freshen up on :good: as well as good ground , S.Wales seem favourite at moment  but keen to try the others too .

St dials runs comps and practise (check website) so you can get a bit of a queue on comp days its more rustic than treetops/sw2000 but when its a comp the have scorers/trappers to button and score iirc ( shoot in a squad iirc, trevor will know more as he is a regular) good rolls iirc, good atmosphere but in the rain can be hard going walking around Stuart is very helpful just let them know you haven't been before and they will show you the form. When its a comp u shoot a set number on each stand so turnover is pretty quick you won't get someone shooting 50+ but you might get 10 in front shooting 8 each but you can skip a stand and come back to it later. Well worth dropping along next time it's on, you also have south Worcester SG up the M50 not too far away!

:rolleyes:I see Cwmbran gun club listed with a phone number but no website or details , couldn't find anything of the Llandaff or St.Brides clubs either ?

http://www.llandaffcityclayshootingclub.co.uk/ there you go the WCTSA site is pretty awful and out of datehttp://wsctl.co.uk/index.php will have details for the others.

Just reading through them and they are 100 bird , do you both shoot 100,s ?

100's yes, some times in under an hour  if you find them tiring (you may be a tad older than me being retired and all.....) try using 24g or 21g carts easier to carry break birds just as well if you do the right thing!

What gun are shooting?

Found Mork under BASC sporting agencies , is the ground easy to get round and not too much hanging around the stands waiting , to be fair to S.Wales 2000

I have been able to get straight on to the shooting each time I have been there and never had a faulty or empty trap yet .

Keeper lodge looks good ,love the area too so think I will give them a try too .

Mork isn't to bad to get around , it does get busy some Sundays but the family what run it are very efficient and sort any problems/breakdowns quickly and the stands are all staffed

Keepers lodge can get muddy and busy but is a good little shoot , just my opinion of course but mork wins hands down over keepers lodge in every way :)

No problem, if you ever shoot my way give me a shout, a quick cuppa and name to a face :good:

Through the summer I very often ride down through the Forest of Dean love the area and the wildlife (particularly the wild boar ) but bit awkward carrying a gun on a motorcycle ,might

call in the clay ground though for a preview if I don't get down there to shoot beforehand !
