henry d
May not be in the main TV news, but there has been a wall collapse inside Liberton School Edinburgh. A first year pupil has been killed and I know people who work there. A terrible tragedy, for the family, school and all involved. (On train can't do a link) Yes Henry D - it does not even bear thinking about and I hear that it is not for the first time that something has gone seriously wrong at this school. One has a right to expect that your child or children should be 100% safe at their school. Our thoughts must be with their parents, family and friends - what a tragic waste of a young life. Kes
It has been suggested that the wall in question was reported as unsafe 3 weeks before the incident. Doesnt affect the terrible tragedy for the family, but maybe no-one should have died, let alone a lovely 12 year old girl like she was. aris
Was on main bbc news tonight. Ever more so tragic if it was preventable.
mel b3
I saw it on the news last night, it was heart breaking, her poor parents must be devastated, it was made worse by the fact that it was so easily avoidable, someone will have some very serious questions to answer but nothing will bring back that poor child. Blackpowder
By what I heard on Radio Scotland yesterday it was an internal wall, perhaps to changing rooms. A terrible tragedy for the family and friends of the poor girl. Deepest sympathy to all concerned. Blackpowder
novice cushie shooter
Edinburgh council were fined 8k last month with regards to the condition of liberton high school. Its about time they stopped penny pinching and its a travesty its caused a young girl to lose her life when it could have been easily avoided. Not that it will help the family much but i hope the negligble person gets punishment of some sorts and not the usual council "payoff"
AULD YIN
The fine was for health and safety after a female schoolkid fell down the lift shaft, staffs fault ,rather than get a lift engineer they tried to get her out of the lift after it stuck ,she slipped down the gap. johnnie
Penelope
Jesus!! Lift entrapment call outs have an hour's response time from all lift maintenance contractors, it's an industry standard. The fine was for health and safety after a female schoolkid fell down the lift shaft, staffs fault ,rather than get a lift engineer they tried to get her out of the lift after it stuck ,she slipped down the gap. johnnie
