Sky+ Box

Having a intermittent problem with the old sky box, just phoned them up to try and get it replaced but after some polite arguing it was still going to cost £160. Bit of a cheek when you pay them a fortune a month!

Does anybody work for sky or know a way to get the box replaced for free?

How long have you been with sky ?

Do you have a package?

I just got some one a new hd + box

I've been with them about 8 years and have the variety package with HD, about £37 a month

I wanted a box with the wireless so we can get the online movies and on demand but thank you very much mpk, very kind offer

I have just changed to Virgin an have a sky+ HD box and a normal sky box here if you want to pay the postage it's yours.

Take this very kind offer up.

Then just get sky to partner your viewing to the new 'second hand' box.

My brothers done this in the past and all was ok.

 

As for the wifi bit they do a dongle - but always better if you can LAN cable to router and forget wifi.

On a side note when I cancelled I got a call around a week later and 2 days before my virgin was connected from the dedicated winback team (I had also been with them 8 years) and they offered me all sorts to stay, maybe an ideal

Opportunity to request the box you want as a gesture to keep your custom ??

moved from derby to here brother in law nuked skybox taking it out sky wanted 65 quid 4 years ago missus said cancel then aint paying that they panicked said 45 quid missus said NOOO. 5 mins l8r captin grovel rang up said as 1 off we could have it for free.just cancel theyl lick your nose to get you back theres so many ways to get round sky and still watch it their scared as mr aussie n his rat sons know weve had enough of being ripped off.internet is full of ways to get sky without paying them they,l soon back down even if you have to wait a week or two atb clakk

Cancel and re subscribe in couple weeks they will give you new kit then :)

Just what I was going to say you get to keep the old box and you can still see most of the old channels then after a couple of months start again as a new custemer you tend to have to do this with car insurance as if you do not the robbing people will put it up every year.

I just bought a 'wifi bridge dongle' off the bay for about £14 and plugged that in the network cable socket of my sky+ HD box.

 

Works a treat.

I told them I was going to cancel and start again in my partners name, she reckoned they are aware of this procedure but its something I might just do!

This is where you went wrong! You told them, "I'm cancelling... but I'll sign up to continue paying you with a new name".

 

What you should have said is, "I pay a monthly subscription for TV which I cannot watch because my box is broken. Replace my box now or I have no need for your service."

 

Has worked for me on three occasions despite being told of the call out / hardware replacement costs. Sky rely on you not having the guts to go through with your threat of leaving so to quote Joan Collins... "Get some nuts!"

Send a Polite. Email to the above explains how long you have been a customer how long since you have upgraded ect.

 

If you have no box there no good to you. And all you want is the equipment to allow you to give them the monthly figure. Make sure you have you phone no. On the email and give it a week norm 3 days and you will get a call telling you there sending you a new box and a couple of other freebies...

this is what we did :good:

when I told them we was leaving they told me they wanted there box/dish back as it belong to them so I told them they best be qwick as I have just put it at the bottom of the drive for them :lol:
