Hi to all I have only had this l200 for a couple of months and went out last night lamping for the fist time in this truck so I pulled into the field engaged the 4x4L and set off fine through the first gate then I had it on full lock and I could hear a loud clunk noise until straight then again in reverse so this panicked me so headed home. Once out on the road back into 2wd H and no more noises even on lock any ideas please

Cheers mike

I have had one go and that was on my first that had been a SHB hire vehicle and worked hard so I wouldn't say its common, just one of those things. Mine did go completely bearings jammed and I had to drive home in 4x4 which wasn't ideal.

Sure it wasn't a diff lock issue? Not sure if the vehicle has them fitted but even in the field, on full lock, they can make that noise.

+1 full lock it will do it. you have the outer wheels going the same revolution as the inside. It causes it to jump, you obviously dont require 4x4 because it sounds like you have full traction, if you didnt it wouldnt do it.

I think its called transmision wind up up similar, when both drive shafts want to go different speeds but cant, its not good to do it, expensive repairs i think.

you explained it perfect id say transmission wind up to .you are not suppose to use hard lock in 4 wheel drive and only use it if you loose traction
