Daystate worth the price tag?

I sold my Air Wolf MCT for this...

I'm yet to regret it. This puts a bigger smile on my face than any Daystate has done. New, it'd probably cost slightly more than the Hunstman regal, once you add in the extra refinements it's had. However, I'd take this over any of the Daystate range. I did, in fact! £800 for a Huntsman Regal, seems a bit steep, especially as it's not regulated, so still has a power curve (albeit greatly reduced due to the very efficient valve and hammer system). Out of all of their guns, I think the Wolverine B-Type is probably the most accurately priced. There does seem to be something special about the looks, feel and performance that MIGHT warrant the £1000 price tag.

I'd just rather have my R10!

Hard to compare reliability between the brands when one out sells the other by a wide margin. As a Daystate owner I can completely remove myself from the potential "envy?" label and without trying to be brash I will admit to being financially able to buy any Air rifle that I fancy and not even ask the price. I use my guns for vermin control and whilst enjoying the Daystate porn that frequently pops up I actually think that some of the guns are ugly. If you can afford a DS and you really want one then that's great and everyone should be happy for you, but if you think that paying the extra will increase your chances of success then you are mistaken cos there are many guns out there that will match the best that DS have to offer in the real world and leave you with enough change to keep you in ammo for years. I also agree that with advances in design you will get the odd teething troubles-but when you are paying around a thousand pounds for a gun those troubles should be solved in the factory and not occur in the field.

I don't deny my evidence is anecdotal. Based upon personal experience and the amount of people posting on here with daystate problems in comparison to the competition, admittedly that I have come across since being a member.

I can honestly say with all the Daystate guns I've had I've never had any problems with them one bit!!

Quality has been second to none and performance and accuracy has been match standard!!

I will never buy a different make of rifle in the distant future cos I have been more than happy with my Daystate rifles!!

an AAs410 better than a huntsman classic ? ,,, what planet are you from ? that has got to be the daftest post I have ever read on PW since I joined,

Yes a before mentioned Daystate DO get parts built from different company,s and what a great idea that is,,they pick the best manufacturer at making certain pieces of the rifle (which they have designed) then assemble them to a very high standard,

srspower, it seems to me you have never owned a daystate or for that matter never even shouldered one either to make such a silly comment as you did,

I own an AAs410 and had a huntsman and believe me the huntsman is a far superior rifle in handling ,feel and also build quality by far,

I also own a Daystate Airwolf and Wolverine and they are BOTH faultless and real quality rifles and by that I mean TOP QUALITY rifles,

to the op,,,,yes mate daystate rifles are worth every penny, be it electronic or mechanical, if you want to know about daystate rifles then ask someone who owns one and not someone who wants one

Daystate, PURE QUALITY ENGINEERING AT ITS BEST,,,,,,,,,,,, now that is fact

chrispainter loved my BSA r10 and was very impressed with it, a cracking little rifle,

here are my two beauty,s

He means an Air Wolf 'MCT'. It stands for Mapped Compensated Technology and it's what drives the newer Air Wolfs' electrics. Every shot is electronically regulated, the on board computer measures the pressure in the bottle and reacts accordingly, giving what is supposed to be perfect shot-to-shot consistency. It also means you get completely accurate (electronic) pressure reading and gives you the option of programming specific power settings.

Actually I have shot ALL of daystates offerings other than the Wolverine on a number of occasions. And yes I don't think they are any better than the competition other than 'looking nice' no way are the worth the price tag. And yes I think the Air Arms s410 is a better rifle than the huntsman overall. Just because you're a fanboy there is no need to get your knickers in a twist. I think they are a rip off, deal with it.

Brilliant guns but be prepared to take a huge hit if you go to sell it on, airwolfs are around £1400 new , you will loose about 50% of that selling second hand

£1400 for an air rifle!! :o Christ, I'd love to know the "mark-up" on them. More fool the people who buy them..... If the sales figures were down due to, shall we say, less "mugs" around. Then it would drive the price down.

I remember a few years ago, when I read an interview with an "Insider" who worked for a certain brand of motorcycle dealers, selling branded "trick" aftermarket parts. He stated there were no fixed "mark-up" figures. "We charge the maximum we believe most people will pay". So with that in mind, crack on folks!

On another note, I bought a used Air Arms S410 a few years ago, and it was and still is a very nice, very accurate, well built, nice handling gun.

Does it need to be any more than that??

However, each to there own......
