Kes
A statistic like 40 over 40 doesnt come from thin air but its a guys retreat of last resort to deny its shrinking and limp. My salutations to you Doc and may the (Burnham) wood come to Mid/West Kent, rather than B****** off to Dunsinane. If no-one knew anyone on this forum, I think a hell of a lot would own up. Wise move to the Doc's. I reckon bike saddles have a lot to answer for - anatomically speaking.
Doc Holliday
Phroar!!!! Get your real tree coat, you've pulled. I'm not bothered about your rigidity of your tally whacker, I just want somebody thats going to treat me right (ie not come home late smelling of bacardi breezers and going on to make unreasonable demands). Ack-ack, stop right there buddy! You had me at "Phroar!" Jack Pyke's in hand. Your shed or mine? so 5 out of 4 days (mon-fri) you do crossfit, on top of a normal working week plus you're active at weekends and still knocking one off the wrist on occasion... that's quite a lot of streneous activity! I found when i was doing mma training in between weights sessions at the gym i was struggling to put in a decent performance with the mrs on days when i trained. I'd say cut the wrist action down, crossfit 3 times week (ideally twice in my opinion, tues & thurs) and see what happens. hows your diet? getting plenty of good protein and fats in? Trouble is, I hate not training. Feels like I'm being lazy but I understand where you're coming from. Diet is good. Plenty of protein and my Omega 3 to omega 6 ratio is pretty spot on (1:2 or near as damn it). I follow the paleo diet about 75 - 80% of the time. Mrs H has trouble getting her head around it. To be honest, the only thing I've really cut out is bread. Still have rice and past but less than I used to. Have 2 scramble eggs with an avocado most mornings for breakfast followed by a hemp protein shake (sounds horrific but it's actually quite tasty). Lunch is generally a good portion of protein (usually ham/beef/brawn or mixture) with a big salad and an all in one protein shake (Hurricane Extreme). Evening meal is something usually cooked from scratch but is fresh meat and veggies mainly with some coconut and a handful of almonds afterwards usually. Also have an all in one protein shake after Crossfit, which is usually an early evening session. A statistic like 40 over 40 doesnt come from thin air but its a guys retreat of last resort to deny its shrinking and limp. After 5 miles or so it would feel like the 'pipe' behind the sack has been kinked, even with the ones which have the bit in the saddle hollowed out didn't make much difference. Bry-M
sounds like you've got the diet nailed, try cutting the training right back for two weeks (you are meant to take breaks now and again anyway to let both CNS recover as well as muscles/tendons) and see how you feel. depending on circumstances sometimes with training less is more. Doc Holliday
Just had a read up on the CNS recovery. You have a very good point there Bry, thank you. Makes a lot of sense. I've been flagging a bit on the WoD's of late and couldn't figure out why. Even some of the girls were finishing before me on occasion but I just put that down to them using lighter weights. I'll knock it right back for a week or two and see what happens. I had noticed in the past that after a bit of a break my performance seemed to be better but I wasn't sure if this was just my imagination.
