ferret boy
Im looking at buying a cheap hammer sbs off a mate at the clay ground for a rough pigeon gun. One is a bates and one is a marco.does anyone know anything about these makes?what there worth.im only going to be paying £50 for one, both fit and i can shoot them. once hammers are cocked i take it you can uncock them by pulling them back?or do you hav to pull trigger with thumb on hammer so that it doesnt strike the firing pin hard enough. regards
Graham M
Buy the Bates BE CAREFULL when you have a live cartridge in the breech as one slip could end up discharging the gun. G.M.

It is likely to be very old, with consequent worn internals. They are not the safest things when new - some clay grounds wont allow their use. To use them, you load up, shut the gun, then cock the hammers.I've never had to 'de-cock' one, so dont know if it is possible at all. £50 is too much unless it is a good quality gun. It would be better to get a newer SbS gun, and many are available for £50. Alan.
