I have shot hundreds of rabbits with the help of my range finder, but last evening i pinged one what was facing me at 75yds and it was if i had clapped my hands in front of its face, did something startle it or is it possible they can see the lazer. any positive comments along with the others.

Could the sun have glinted off the lens?

I've never detected any visible beam from my range finder, and rabbits are never bothered by the IR dot of my Nightmaster when I'm out with the NV, and that's pretty bright. Badgers can pick it up though. Many a time I've been scanning with the NV a bit of ground with rabbits all over the place, some of them very close, and none of them seem remotely aware of the red dot, but if a badger wanders across and looks my way he'll spot it instantly, freeze in his tracks and bark. But then they're nocturnal so maybe their eyes have different spectrum sensitivity. Foxes seem to be able to spot it also though they're less alarmed by it than the badgers.
