bakerboy
Decided on the spur of the moment to go out on the pigeons this afternoon. Turned up on the permission and saw many hundreds lifting off and falling back on the crop. I could not believe my luck, I drove around found a likely spot set up and waited. Well the hundreds did not come over to me but a few did, and this was their mistake. I had a few very good shots, missed some easy shots. But had a great afternoon out; 3 1/2 hours of fun in great weather and a nice pleasant spot to shoot over. This is the last time I can shoot for over a week now, in fact nearly two weeks, and this spot looks like it is going to be really productive. I may have to see if I can get out for a couple of hours in the evenings if that is possible. Oh, I forgot to say, by the way I shot 36 pigeons as well. DEADLY PLUMBER
I too had a nice afternoon out. Set up on wheat on the edge of a small copse. The aim was to bag a few and start to train my 1yr old w/cocker spaniel in a hide with a few decoys out. Got 17 & picked up 12. Lost some in the wheat despite great work by the young dog. The ones that dropped a distance away are difficult. So tried to avoid longer range shots. The dog really took to it. He flattened the hide once by deciding to take a short cut through the side of the hide. Very funny, school boy error. Hard work with the young dog but great fun. Farmer tells me the rape should get harvested this week. ATB. DP
