the last engineer Posted February 14, 2007 Report Share Posted February 14, 2007 good to see the gun Neil, looking forward to see how well you jack that bad boy with a crossing pair,,,,,on steroids , one of the guys i shot with at strathcona one his 1st and 2nd canadian championchips with an old model 12 winchester pump, i watched the old *** jack a few through at station 4(pairs int'l-skeet) ,,,,, quite impressive, smarmy old geezer, hes's one of those guys who shoots one discipline only,,but well, maybe you'l meet him out there when we get to blow a few up. Reason so many people liked em (inc skeet shooting) was IF you held the trigger down and racked the gun then the SECOND the breech closed the shot would go off so you could get your shots off VERY quick 4 shots in 2 seconds was quite easy B) They had a tendancy to dislike cartridges with high brass bases as the brass would expand causing the racking mech to become VERY tight Shallow base was a different story i turned to Rotweil carts instead of Eley and it sorted mine out. the last engineer Posted February 15, 2007 Report Share Posted February 15, 2007 great guns LG id love to get hold of a model 42, this was the .410 pump, one cracking pc, ive seen two and they are about as common as rocking horse droppings, the price of any seen will confirm. model 12's are around $25 bucks and up, unless you can find one with a simmons rib, these are a little more but what a gun, cartridge of choice then was rotweil, with horse hair wads, stink like hell and kick like a mule, but do they ever crush a target , ive run a few mod12s and had fun with them, if the right one came along id pick it up again. of cource the goal would be to own all 4 model 12's 12g, 20g, 28g, .410", oh to be so lucky eh. sorry LG the "scuse my ignorence "ex next monday" whats all that about ??
