the last engineer
i have been given a Basque u/o ejector, but i have broken one of the firing pins, i have had it welded but when you pull the triggers nothing happens. can anyone please tell me if it is worth repairing and also how much i would be expecting to pay for a new pin. many thanks in anticipation. not the simplest of questions to answer but here goes, IMO i would never have a pin welded, to weak at the neck, which i beleive is where it would have broken, needless to say you have, this would give a couple of senarios 1/ is the alignment good, the weld may have allowed the pin to lean a little, this would cause fouling in setting or releasing. 2/ has all the overweld been removed, again any excess material will cause interference with the pins travel in its housed state. its an over under so my assumption is its the bottom pin, in which case the top again is different (length, angle of heel locking notch and so on) you need to find a smith who is familiar with this gun, your options are. 1/ replace it with new, downside time and stock. 2/ have one made by a competent machinist who knows the firearm trade, he will need to make a couple im thinking one to try and mod, and one to use in the gun when all is sorted. me id like to think you are able to get a pin new, in which case buy a few you never know, i change mine regular, once a year, but thats with excessesive use, good luck let me know how it goes.
