TaxiDriver
Cameras are set at whatever speed is indicated by the display signs ( in the areas where limit is variable)

keg
If there is no speed limit showing the cameras on teh gantries are not working. On the section of the M25 i use ( M1 round to M3 Jct) they do not operate if no speed showing.

loriusgarrulus
Nice little earner like the A51 and A34 around Stone. More speed changes than you can shake a stick at.

sheene7
I've noticed that there are a couple of gantries around the Clacket lane services on the M25, that have extra speed cameras mounted on them near to the hard shoulder . I have seen these go off a few times , even though the variable speed limits were turned off. Can only assume that they are set at national speed limit + a percentage
keg
Don't know about those, don't use that part of the m25 unfortunately.
sheene7
Don't know about those, don't use that part of the m25 unfortunately. Don't you mean 'fortunately ' ? I have the misfortune of travelling that section most weeks , it never ceases to amaze me how many bad drivers that road attracts
keg
Good point sir! The bad drivers seem to be spread round most of the motorway network.
88b
A lot of drivers ignore the speedo and go off their sat nav's these days could have something to do with it If your sat nav can tell you which side of a dual carriageway your on, it's more accurate than the cars speedo . Vehicle speedos always read slow, which is why police traffic cars have calibrated speedos, tyre wear plays a big part in it too, new tyres to just legal tyres can be over 5% difference in speed.
