I know your mum or better looking half tell you that olive oil is the way to go when frying stuff..... But it ain't olive oil is a low temp. oil and will burn off when your frying pan gets hot , and hence stuff sticks ..

Be a man and fry in lard or beef dripping , or if your lucky enough goose fat !!

My Father in Law ( Now retired ) was an Industrial Chemist for a Major Oil Company whose automotive products are famous.

 

During the latter years of his career he concentrated on sales to small ( Non Key) accounts

 

One of his major outlets was mineralised oil ( Proper distilled and refined black stuff, not vegetable) to many hundreds of Fish and Chip shops nationwide!!!!

 

So before the trend in vegetable oil we were all probably frying our chips in diesel or a derivative of it. :D:lol::lol:
