Complete whiteout here in Cumbria. A66 down to one lane and nothing has been gritted. Hope traffic keeps going as I'm off to Scotch Corner to pick up new gun.

Have just overtaken a Jaguar on hill through town, spinning his tyres like a good un, then pulled over to give him a push up hill with two other blokes. A toot on horn and he was on his way. Those low profiles look good in the showroom, but not much cop in this weather.

Went to Scotch Corner in Landy (thought it was the safest bet) and nothing but wet green fields from Bowes onwards; could have taken car. :sad1: Anyhow, met up with a very nice bloke and did deal for new gun in services car park and came away about an hour later and it was snowing quite heavily, but nothing to write home about.

All thawing now much to kids disappointment, as they were hoping for tomorrow off school.

All the Fells are well covered now; good skiing stuff, and we've had a few days of freezing night temperatures so ungritted roads paths etc are now very dangerous for driving and pedestrians alike. Most of the folk in town are walking on the roads as pavements risky underfoot.

We have been waiting since before Christmas for United Utilities to come and move mains electric in house restoration; they turned up today, drove up lane, skidded into skip, smashed 1/4 light window and creased door, got out of vehicle, phoned boss, had a fag, and after we'd pulled them up hill so they could turn around , they ****** off. :ninja:
