The contention that its "only" a fox and if you hit it at all, it will crawl away and die, seems a sad reflection on the "sportsman" holding the gun. Agreed. sarol Posted March 26, 2011 Report Share Posted March 26, 2011 to shoot foxes with a .410 drop in a slug cartridge (FAC). that will take them out to 100 yard with a clean shoulder hit. i would not do it any other way, only fair on the fox vermin or not, instant kill. leeboy Posted March 28, 2011 Report Share Posted March 28, 2011 I would shoot foxes with a 410, and have done so on many occasions. A 410 is just as powerful as a 12 bore and more than powerful enough to kill foxes cleanly. The only problem is the small payload. If the range is 15 yards or less then charly is fair game. An opportunity is not seeing a fox at 50 meters. That is not an opportunity, so it does not count. But for any opportunity - Yes - Definitely.
