I am trying to do this on my phone so bare with me.

This is what I am referring to, with the semi auto comparison

Browning-BAR-Mark-II-Safari-031001-690l.&&0

Browning (BAR) with B.O.S.E. system ? Lovely looking gun. Mate had the B.O.S.E. system on one of his rifles donkeys ago; the report was horrendous.

Yes I have shot in with a couple of members off here with those on their B/A Brownings, I agree about the noise.

Don't tell underdog that though he will call you a jessie ;)

I'll keep schtum then. :)

I agree about mod's spoiling the look and balance of a gun, which was why I refused to put one on my Remington BDL.

My T3 has an A-TEC on it and doesn't look too bad to be honest, being a relatively short heavy target barrel.

No not Jessie's. Pansies! Lol.

Actually I like the BAR!

Would not have one mind. I would worry to much about losing brass!

U;-)

Following on from that, the BrowningBLR is pug! And I like lever actions!

I am a little amazed at the response to this post , although some of you have cheated as I originally did say double guns , but no matter .

I don't think Baikal's are particularly ugly just functional and yes Kreigoffs have no style .

The gun I was alluding to was the Browning Heritage . This is an ugly gun ,slab sided with no pretence of any finesse , lazar engraved but nothing to make it stand out . The shoulder behind the side plate is too short with a truncated dropped point . Putting next to a B25 Custom there is no comparison the Beretta EELL has far more pizzazz . For the price it could have and should have been so much better .

Have to agree. Ornamental sidelplates are ghastly; they're trying to suggest that the gun is a sidelock. I regard them the same way as I do padded bras; or as ladies prefer nowadays the bizarrely named "chicken fillets" which are misrepresentation of the highest order.

Painted representations of foliage are ghastly. Painted representaions of actual wood is a bit like the above.

Intimate bits of females engraved on a gun are inappropriately vulgar. Mixing them with woodcock is just, well, not right.

All pump guns are ghastly, without exception.

Anything that looks even vaguely military or "tactical" is horrible. The term "tacticool" is at best unfortunate.

That OU pictured earlier is dreadful. The engraver/chiseller started with one of the ugliest actions ever devised, all angles and straight lines clashing with each other. The design cues coming from a broken paving slab, the wood and the metal fighting each other. Then he took a road drill to it and recreated a Teutonic sarcophagus on the sides. It really does represent the altar peice in the temple of the high priest of Naff.

My Outlander and my Urika are things of sensitively crafted beauty. Italian taste, free of gaudy embellishment, utilitarian design in harmony with nature.

in terms of aesthetic flow i cant say im a fan of the locking lugs on beretta over unders, but its personal preference

Although i have one i dont like semi auto shotguns of any make. there's something about them that just doesnt do it for me, its probably just because they look so mass produced

just my two pence worth though

Totally agree with the locking lugs on Berettas, but as you say, it's personal taste, and it would be a boring old world if we all had the same tastes.

I'm not a fan of the slab sides on many Beretta box lock models, nor side-plates, nor gold triggers. I prefer box locks to side locks, and plain actions.

I liked the Beretta 682 I owned because it was a simple understated black action with no engraving, the gold trigger was something I had to live with. The nicest model in the Beretta range is the DT10, with no engraving.

I love my 101's, and as much as I like the Diamond Grade, the engraving is chunkily ugly; the 6500 onwards being much nicer. The engraving on my Grand European I find acceptable only because it's shallow, and no gold triggers, on any of them. The detachable trigger mechanism on my Renato Gamba Daytona is a work of art, and they resisted the urge to engrave the action or add a gold trigger. Gorgeous.

I would never buy a gun with the sides chequered as the Yanks like to do on some models; simply awful. Some of the limited 'collector edition' models some American firearms manufacturers produce are just horrendous.

I hasten to add, all the above is just my personal opinions and preferences, and no slight is intended on those who like/dislike some or all of the above. :) It's all subjective.

I once painted a chest of drawers with a hot-air balloon display for my daughters bedroom and used it as a centre-piece for exposure/advertising for my business as a painter/artist/paint effects specialist. Everywhere it went it drew admirers and positive comments, and one day while bending down to do whatever, behind the counter on my stall, I heard some bloke say 'Who the **** would want that in their bedroom?' :| He went bright red when I stood up and quickly strode off, and while not bursting my balloon, gave it a little puncture. It's all subjective.
