inthedark
One for the more technologically minded members. I'm needing a freeware program to rip my DVD's onto a WD my cloud 3 TB NAS drive that doesn't drop me 10 additional programs and a couple of toolbars. Also, whats the best format to use, I've done a couple in MP4 that seem OK but is that the best one? Thanks for looking.
discobob
If you mosey on over to avforums- there was a cracking thread that walks you through what software you need for ripping to nas It was under media players I think
aris
I use makemkv to rip DVD and blu-ray (free while in beta - get the reg code from their forums - which has been for the last 3 or 4 years now) - then Handbrake to convert the raw MKV rips to MP4 video container. This conversion is optional if you don't mind HUGE MKV files. Conversion makes them about 1/5 or smaller with no noticeable quality loss (to my eyes) http://www.makemkv.com https://handbrake.fr
