Fredwalton
Hi Went to the East A Game Fair yesterday although it's a great day out and purchased a new flapper and and a swivel bucket seat I was a little disappointed in the lack of gun sales. What other game fairs do people attend? Edited April 26, 2015 by Fredwalton
Big Mat
I've found it disappointing the last few times. Not even bothered going this year, used the money i would have spend on the entrance fee to buy a dinner in a nice country pub for me and her! My favorite is the Fenland one on the August bank holiday
adzyvilla
Went along today, got there just after 8:30, left just after 10:30 and I wasn't rushing either. Third and last time I will be going. £17 is quite a bit to pay for what is essentially a glorified car boot sale, especially when the prices are 50% higher for most things than they would normally be, We've all seen the chainsaw demos and all the other usual things so its not even worth going for the entertainment value. I blame both the showground and the vendors for the 'show inflation', speaking to a few of the exhibitors, the costs are huge, so are passed on to the punters (£4 for a bacon roll?!?). Gunmakers row is always a supreme disappointment at the smaller shows, just not worth the expense for them. Still the mrs bought some clothes and was happy mooching and trying all the booze samples. CLA way too expensive now, Sandringham too small. Its a shame as I used to really enjoy going to country shows when I was a kid, so I too would be intersted to see where everyone else is going. -ben-
This will be the last year I go just a big clothing stall with expensive cheap clothing.
Fredwalton
I agree it's just a big outdoor shopping centre, there are a few nice things and likewise the Mrs found some homely goods, but in terms of actual shooting stuff not a lot really. I would like to go to the CLA fair but it's a long way to go for a fair. We paid 13 off the tickets as got them in advance but still not really worth. As has been said a shame really, and also noticed all the stalls were in exactly the same place as last year.
motty
I went yesterday. Pretty disappointed. I haven't been for a few years, but this was certainly worse than last time. A lot less 'good' trade stalls than before. I hoped to buy a few bits, but left with just a new decoying seat. If it is so expensive to secure a stall at the show, it is no wonder that the turn out is so poor. I doubt I will go again.
norfolk dumpling
We've not been to this one for a few years now - didn't like mix of stalls, a lot which had very little to do with the countryside. For us we would rather spend our money on Holkham, Fenland and Sandringham. Although even with those there are not the discounts to be had these days. Tend to buy from the likes of Norris Penrith but still support a few small show.
marsh man
I went Saturday due to the weather forecasting a wet Sunday , as it turned out yesterday was dryer than the day before. Overall I thought it was a pretty poor country fair and I would now think twice going every year as I didn't see anything I hadn't seen before and didn't think there were as many trade stands ( decent ones that is ) than last year. Holkham is in lovely grounds but the fair is to commercial for a game fair. Sandringham I would say better than Holkham. Fenland have still got that old fashion feel and smell about how I remember the good ole country fairs of the past

Jay_Russell
I nearly went on sunday, but 34 quid for me and the wife to get in i didnt bother. I like barley lands (essex show) not a game fair but a good day out. Whats the sandringham show??
Mentalmac
As an exhibition organiser (albeit in a far different industry) I often find the idea of charing the visitors a hard pill to swallow, usually the price of the show is made by the exhibitors and sponsors and the visitors come free (as they are the buyers more often than not). Sounds to me that the organisers of these game fairs are if not a little greedy. Anybody know the actual price of a stand at a game fair?
