Folks

I have a sliding gate made from tanalised pine, plained tounge & grove timber set in a metal frame, as yet its not been treated & I don't fancy using a varnish type stain. What's your opinions, experiences on using decking oil.

i use cuprinol decking oil on my decking, a standing gate may be different to a deck thats laying flat so more susceptible to the elements but i find i have to oil my decking twice a year to keep it in nice condition, i did it once last year around this time its now looking pretty rough. i have also found as i use a stained oil that even after a few months the fresh coat just makes it darker and darker each time

personally i would use one of the curpoinol shades paints over oil or the cheap fence ones ive had wooden things in my garden painted for dokinies years and their still looking pretty damn good

I bought some Green Cuprinol product supposed to be for sheds and fences, it's supposed to be a paint/sealer with added wax content.
