Good service from Greenfield Guns in Salisbury.

Recommended Posts

I've just completed a transaction for a new rifle with the above RFD. What a pleasure to deal with them. They kept me informed all the way, and made sure I understood everything. Pity some of my 'local' RFD's didn't show as much interest in my request for a new rifle. They couldn't even be bothered to check the availability of seeing if one was available from the importers. I was fobbed off with, 'haven't had time to phone them yet', and ' they haven't got back to us'.

They've lost a good sale, and further ones in the future. My new rifle is now waiting for the RFD to RFD transaction (which Greenfields have not charged me for) and the rifle is still between £45 - £70 cheaper than my local RFD's.

Thank you Greenfields. :good:

As I mentioned, two of my 'local' RFD's could not be bothered to chase up my request regarding a new rifle. One, could get one for me, but wanted £70 more. I even pointed out to them that the particular rifle I wanted was advertised in GunMart magazine to what I paid for it from Greenfields. I was told that it wasn't available from the importers, and then noticed that in a later issue of the magazine, the price had gone up. The other RFD, did quote a better price than the first, but after phoning them 3 times in one week, only to be fobbed off with various excuses and reasons as to why they could not get one for me, I gave up. Both these RFD's will not get my trade again, unless it suits me. No need to mention their names, but other PW members living in my area can probably guess who they are.

I have 3 or 4 RFDs within 20 miles but haven't shopped at any of them for years. Greenfields is over 70 miles but I've bought guns twice and part ex'd twice and each time I received good service, good prices and been made to feel welcome and that they actually want my business. Plenty of stock too. All round top dealer.

Having been down that way to look at a bull I called into Greenfields for a look see on the way home, ended up buying a rather nice Webley shotgun. That was in about 1965, still have the gun today.

They were nice people then, pleased to hear they are still the same.

The only time I had any dealings with them was many years ago when they had the shop in Ringwood as well then, went in to get some cartridges and was talking to the gunsmith about a Greener GP he said nice shotgun but overpriced for what it was. Never did buy one shame as once they left the shop after that went down hill and still no where as good now as it was then.

Charlie T.

Young Matt, the shop front manager, probably - no definitely wasn't born in 1965 and he is the manager that has turned this shop around.

Of course there is still Alan P, the owner working in the background and Jonathan, a fully fledged gunsmith who has been there quite some time still doing the gunsmithing but Matt and his two lady helpers are the ones that greet you when you walk in the shop and are willing to discuss some very good deals,

They make you feel as if they actually want you to buy an item and walk away pleased with your purchase, rather than sell you something and rub their hands together when you've left.

Oh by the way, I have nothing to do with the shop other than a very pleased customer over the last few years.

Where will you buy the .17 Hornet ammo?

Nice people in Greenfields. I popped in there a few times when my daughter was down that way.

I have a few boxes of factory rounds to go on with, plus, another RFD has plenty in stock, but it's expensive to what I paid a few days ago. I intend reloading this calibre, which will bring the ammunition cost right down.
