rodp
What's the excuse going to be this time? It will have to be a good one as it appears this is still going on ! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6550203/Cops-told-Top-Labour-MP-is-a-paedo.html
keg
If it is true then he should be jailed for life but let's see the evidence first rather than just jump in as the press did with Lord McAlpine...
rodp
True, that's if the truth ever comes out.

rodp
The S*n. Must be true. The thought had crossed my mind If you read it though it seems believable, and it's a big story to get wrong. Wouldn't mind betting this has been checked and double checked before printing.

grrclark
Although the subject matter is abhorrent and a possibly powerful allegation about a sitting MP, the story itself doesn't actually say anything. It references two unnamed MP's who made a police complaint, no corroboration from the police force that an investigation is underway, it doesn't even name the force in question and of course no mention of the MP himself. It is a powerful story, but so ambiguous as to be pretty worthless. The only point of substance that it mentions is that he was a Labour minister and remains a Labour MP, so the Labour party may somehow feel libelled if it was just a sensational work of invention by the Sun, but I doubt that they could do anything. norfolk dumpling
Any article printed by the Sun worries me but in the current climate I'd be very surprised if real evidence was ignored.
Les*1066
It's strange that members of the public can have their names and faces splattered across the Red Tops for supposedly doing xyz before any proof has been brought against them, but the same thing doesn't apply to MP's. Political incorrectness at it's finest.
keg
I would agree Les, in the Times this morning the comment was made that whilst there was enough evidence for the issue to be brought to light, there is not enough to bring a case yet. No formal complaints have been made by any alleged victims.

That's probably only because the Sun is still bartering with them, once they agree a price all hell will be let loose on the front page
100milesaway
You missed all of these off the poll from Auntie.
Vince Green
This was discussed on Sunday, one of the men we were shooting with is a retired Met Police officer and quite a senior one actually. He said there absolutely needs to be a newspaper campaign with these sort of cases before the police can investigate them. Its only the fear of more publicity which opens doors to the police that would otherwise remain closed, these people are not afraid of the police. You would think that the police could go anywhere and ask questions but apparently not, the reality is different. .
