foosa
Does anyone not use a rear bush in their over barrel moderators where they are designed to use one, are they really necessary? I been put off buying one recently because of the marks they leave on barrels and getting them machined to size, I'm very close to ordering a wildcat evo having looked into them following a members recommendation and they look very good, and the ease of swapping between different threads is appealing also. Dougy
I recon that if it's cut properly it should seat square anyway without the need for the bush. I think they offer a little more support. Some folk wrap some electrical tape round the barrel to stop it rubbing the blueing off.
welshwarrior
Some moderators like the aimzonic they are purely cosmetic to make it all look more finished other need it (or the importer maker says they need it).
superspark
If you make sure the over barrel mod is hand tight and keep a check on it I don't see the need for one. I shoot a .243 & a .223 with over barrel mods with no problems at all. I for one am not about to start using them
Traztaz
It has 2 functions. Add stability to thread if rifle is dropped. Stop unwanted debris getting in there between mod and barrel. It should not touch barrel. This an upset harmonics
kent
Its certainly a safeguard if the thread works loose in carry or use, not a fan of close calibre fits or pure muzzle mounted for this reason.
foosa
Thanks all, I've used both over barrel and muzzle mounted cans before on various calibers, my stainless .223 has a lovely set of rub marks 5 inch back from the muzzle! I'm now committed to the wildcat and think I'll see if I can get the bush cut slightly larger than the barrel diameter. I'm going for the .223 baffle stack even though it will be mainly used on the .204, when my current .223 mod dies a change of thread bridge should see it fit both my foxing rifles. Jaymo
In the words of Alison at Wildcat. You should be able to just get a fag paper In between the barrel and the bush........ Have Wildcat over barrel mods on three rifles and find their adaptability for one rifle to another is great.
