They are go faster stripes and could do with another set. But must say, that coulor grows on you. Common as muck. I'm going to ditch the hard top and get a tilt so at least it looks a bit different. viking Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 13, 2015 Had a cracking day on bonni today, by myself too, freed all the suspension and springs, took a few bits and bats off that needed to come off, then stood around for half an hour scratching me head trying to work out how to get the chassis off,or the axles out from underneath, in theory id worked it out so time to put my plan into action, it will seem simple to most but not to me on my own. first i lifted the front up with the engine hoist, jack and some blocks of wood lifter it up at the rear, jack stands just behind the front wheels, lowered the front onto stands pulled hoist out,pulled wheels and axles out, couldnt do the same at the back as there was no room, had a fag and a brew and sussed it out, hoisted front back up took jack stands out,rolled rear axle to where the front was, jack stands back under,lowered it back down moved hoist rolled rear axle out, then bit by bit lowered it down onto the 4 stands. very pleased with my self to say im a window cleaner, and now windows were cleaned today going to bang the chassis on ebay to get rid as i need the room, then im going to build a table so i can get all the sanding down done, strip axles and then take all the bits and bats for shot blasting,then painting, then start the re-build. thanks for looking lee . . .. . not done to bad so far Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can't tell you why but always wanted a red one, Even back in my farm days, I only drove blue...?? viking Posted September 20, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 20, 2015 managed to get a bit done on bonni today despite feeling very rough after a birthday party i went to last night. .nearly ready to get everything together for shot blasting, and cleaning the engine up, looks to me that a good clean might do it rather than re painting it. even managed to knock this little beast up as well, to me 2 hours though, but its sturdy so will be good for sanding down on, all in all not a bad day Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ditchman Posted September 20, 2015 Report Share Posted September 20, 2015 if you want to be "anal" about the springs...take them apart ...clean them reassemble them and immerse them in boiling (or near to) hot grease...then let them cool ..wipe the excess off and put leather boots on them....they used to have that option on the old top of the range Humber cars.....no sqeaks....they just used the float gracefully down the road.............. Yours will be great, but it has to be brown thats nice it that mate, i guess if a garage is doing a lot of the work or doing work to the engine and gearbox then the cost will stack up, i wont be going down that road as my dads been in the business all his life, hes retired now but will still be helping out when needed, i did hear of another bloke who had spent £20k but he bought a pig took it to a garage and told them to do the lot, if i make money then its a bonus,but im not bothered about that really as im really enjoying doing it,and with it being a county station wagon its something different, and it will defiantly be staying russet brown. thanks lee Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
viking Posted September 21, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2015 well with the rain today i had chance to get a bit more done, got all the tires off the wheels ready for shot blasting, had a good tidy up so im not tripping over everything every time i move. got some lads i work with round this morning and got the chassis out of the way. got the new table in position and set about trying to get the runners off the seat base, proved to difficult so i gave in and ended up just scrapping all the left over carpet and glue off ready for sanding, . . . . also managed to get the glass out and cleaned it up, all original and factory tinted .
