krowe79
Which is harder out off the to ? Less likely to damage barrel
fenboy
They will both damage your barrel if they are not enclosed in the wad correctly .

Farma Geddon
Not sure what they make nowadays , most likely very hard and dense.
kent
If your making the choice, use steel as it's cheaper works and does not have the toxic nature of tungsten. Although legal to use it has future implications and those working with tungsten are already aware of its cancer links
krowe79
I used tungsten# 3 #bb 3 1/2 last season used 60 odd tho full choke would you not chance steel #2 in it I have some bismuth and itx but looking for a cheaper shot I?10g zabela sbs Edited August 27, 2015 by krowe79
Farma Geddon
I would use steel 2s in a full choke ten ,but the gun is yours so it's your choice. What do you reckon to the Zabala ten?
krowe79
It's not a bad gun great to use for the geese but Al have to get chokes half and half its a bit expensive to run bismuth itx thy it 👍
Farma Geddon
I just bought a Basque Ten . Full and full. I am not taking the chokes out of that. I shall shoot steel through it.
krowe79
Wot size steel would you go ?
Farma Geddon
Damage usually ,but not always ,occurs with 4mm steel upwards. I shall use BBB but my gun cost £275 so if it does go scewiff , it's not the end of the world. If you want to use big shot , there are loads out there that use mix 47 buffer . This may help minimise damage

Morningflight
Mix 47 buffer will not help prevent damage , buffered steel loads will be worse through a tight choke as no room for the shot to move keeping it tight together. Farma Geddon
I would respectfully disagree with you on buffered loads not helping with damage. I believe they prevent the shot column from balling up in the bottom of the wad ,which is how damage occurs.

I also read that buffer helps to stop pellets 'bounce' off each other, which causes outward pressures.
