Masterplan
Morning all, Looking for some advice. I have a Beretta 626 SxS and it currently has no recoil pad fitted and can be quite brutal on the heavier loads. Are all pads grind to fit, or can i buy a specific pad for that gun or stock dimensions? I'm hoping I can get one of the Beretta ones and just screw to fit myself if thats the case. The stock is in pretty good shape, and I dont want to risk damaging it just before I start my pheasant season by grinding a recoil pad on to it. That said, if its the right thing to do then I will need to find a local gunsmith to do the work for me. Can you recommend any good pads that would work on this gun? Cheers Masterplan
ChrisAsh
I would suggest a phone call to the importers would be a good start they are gmk at www.gmk.co.uk

Looking into it further, I can see there are also temporary/slip-over recoil pads which cover part of the stock and extend the padding. Does anyone have any experience of these? I also saw some shoulder recoil pads which you strap over your body. Are these any good? Doesnt look like I'm short of options luckily. Being new to this I'm learning daily. Every day is a school day!
coldweld
What loads are you using ? The gun is suited to 28g ammo and should not hurt ! Sounds more like bad fit.

The max I'm putting through it is 28g and initially it doesn't hurt. However, after a day on the peg or at the clay ground it starts to get tedious. Much more than my 690. Interesting you mentioned 28g. I always wondered what the maximum cartridge load it can take. Can it go bigger than 28g?
welshwarrior
Grind to fit pad would be the best option and something like an Isis will absorb most recoil just remember not to damage your Gunfit. if you local to me I'd be happy to help you out. Thank you for that! I'll send you a PM. I may decide to get it refinished in the new year, and I could do both at the same time
coldweld
You can put what ever you like in as long as it's a 70mm case have shot up to 32g in mine. During the 80's I used to shoot my AYA yeoman using Winchester winners 200 birds a week shoulder never gave any problems, but if I used Eley Blues I would have a bruised cheek bone within 50 shots. I use Express 28g in my 626 and the old AYA
Savhmr
Just visit this page and you can order pads to fit direct from Beretta cheaper in some cases than buying off any UK retailer: http://estore.beretta.com/en-eu/store/spare-parts/
Masterplan
Thanks very much chaps! I'll try the Beretta website. I've got some 32's I use in my 690 which are 70mm so I may try these out on the clay ground first.
wisdom
Not wishing to alter the thread but how do you fit grind to fit pads I have an old baikal that is perfect in every way as a rough gun but could do with lengthening the stock.About a recoil pads width would do it.
