Well, what can I say, had the most generous offer of an afternoon shooting with J-Dog on one of his permissions in the Corswolds Saturday afternoon, to which I graciously accepted.....OMG.....I have never seen a flight line like it?!? There were so many pigeons just coming and coming and coming...,I didn't sit down in the hide for the first 3 hours as there was no time.......Anyway we had a bag of 45 odd for 3 hours....J-Dog shot like a demon and nailed some amazing shots, I unfortunately let the side down missing some real sitters😖

Anyway, well done J-Dog and a massive thank you from an ever learning student of yours😜👍

Looks like I'd better start saving for the next steak dinner I owe you😜👍

I know I can trust Lloydi but just to be sure I made him wear a blindfold on the way to this farm. Impressive indeed as he was driving.

These birds were not decoying but they were on a breezy line and they were not easy. A baptism of fire for Lloydi on our first days shooting together.

I re read Lloydi's post and my own and I spotted that two salient details were missing.

Firstly, I had no car in the Cotswolds as Lady JDog and I had travelled down for a party in the same car and she needed it to get some new clothes. Lloydi picked me up in what can only be described as a 20m long Mercedes saloon car totally unsuitable for farm tracks and dead pigeons. It did pretty well across a couple of fields.

Secondly, the line we shot was not by any means the strongest we saw. The other line was a bird a minute but we just couldn't get anywhere near where we wanted to be with our kit as we had no 4wd vehicle. We might have had a few more had we shot that line.

You still not got that Landrover back on the road Lloyd?

Fingers crossed this week Sam, I was away then mechanic was, I can't wait to get Disco back and get off roading again. Look pretty silly driving around farm tracks in my S Class lol...

Like J-Dig says, there was a brilliant alternative line but unreachable :(

When you coming to Brize, I thought you said you would be often begging of the year and I'm missing the bunny bashing at the golf course

What was it that took it out of action in the end? Shame about the other line, hopefully they're still on it when the disco is back on the road.

I think I was being a bit optimistic back then, being working on this truck every weekend and had a few job interviews, might be moving up to your neck of the woods soon so I'll have no excuse.

Hey mate, well I'm definitely no mechanic so only thing I can remember mechanic saying was piston blew casing and scratched something or other, but basically written engine off....I've bought a new, well reconditioned 80,000 mile engine and that is presently being fitted....I would have written it off, but the body work is immaculate condition with no dents scratches or rust and the inside is immaculate apart form a small tear on side of drivers seat, so a shame to trash it really.......Typical, I'm moving south in 3 weeks to Kingston Bagpuize so would have been nearer you..lol....Fancy some more rabbit bashing soon?!?
