adi786
Hi Guys, A short story after struggling to find permission for few years, i managed to get a permission. After couple months today, i saw the land owner and just went to say Hello. I kindly asked him about applying for FAC and without a second thought he said yes i can apply for it. I told him I would be applying for .22, 17hmr and 243/270 (for deer/foxes). I have the permission letter which says that am allowed to shoot rabbits, deer, foxes, name of landowner and his contact details. Would it be sufficient to send my application for FAC or do I still need "http://www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/asset/a160de1a-30d1-4926-b850-f9240f8c008G/Destruction%20of%20Vermin%20Deer%20Application%20Form.pdf". I did ask before briefly about this form, as got permission of farmer like to confirm everything before i send off my FAC hopefully tomorrow or on thurs. Thanks

hambone
Not sure about Hampshire area but the norm for South Wales Police seems to be grant .22 rimfire for a year or so. After that time you may then apply for centerfire calibres with 'reason' after proving your safety with the rimfire based on ammo useage (lol). Sometimes a mentor is required before a deer legal calibre is passed. The landowners written permission is the only thing you really need to justify the ownership of a firearm provided that land is suitable for the use of said firearm. All the best with your application.

Thanks I think you live in the same area as me. I've had my FAC for about 18 months now and it took around 5-6 weeks from me posting the forms to receiving the certificate. If you get the same FEO as I did, Pete, then he's brilliant. Came to my house in the morning for the interview, then we went straight to look at the permission which he was happy with. Hopefully they will be as quick with you as they were with me.
adi786
Hi binsondan am in basingstoke, yes Pete is my FEO he did my SGC as well, as you mentioned a great person and really informative. My permission is 10 minutes from my home as well. Am sure for SGC grants/renewals there is a delay of atelast 5 months as one of my friend has sent off his aplication 5 months ago his interview happend around 2 months ago and he still hasn't received his SGC. Probably they deal FAC grants separately as there wont be as many applications as off SGC ?

If they ask if you have had experience with firearms and you haven't then I'm happy for us to go to my permission (which is also local) and we can shoot some targets with my .22 and .17HMR, let me know if you are interested. adi786
hi thats great mate, I have used .22 quite few years back in a rifle club, so would be great if can go with you to get some lessons off you, i've added deer as well, spoken to pete and he mentioned i would required a mentor for sometime with who i can go with or who can come with me. oowee
Application went in two months ago. Told within a week to submit 646 form otherwise it wont be processed. Land was cleared end sept, interview middle October. Waiting for completion advised no time frame but maybe one month from interview. Interesting that they told me no application for centre fire would be approved until completion of rifle safety course.
