numpty
I have been having good success over the past month by placing my hide in the open and have shared two photos, one on wheat stubble which I shot 106 from and one last week on maize stubble for a bag of 68 pigeon and 43 crows. What works for me is a small tight hide with a roof and guy ropes and shooting sitting down.

superspark
Yes very good, ive played arround with this idea too. Realy works well. The first time I tried it it didn't go so well as I didn't use a roof, after that I put a roof on and rooks literally glided slow over the top of me heading in to the pattern. What a real shock they got as I opened fire.
FatFreddysCat
Here's my hide in the open. Yours looks a lot more comfy!
oowee
Great hide. I have done the same (not quite as open) in standing wheat when an area in the middle was down. I didnt think it would work but it did.

numpty
Here's my hide in the open. Yours looks a lot more comfy! That makes mine look like four star luxury! And I complain (to myself) when I don't have everything to hand and in it's place....I will remember your photo.

Whitebridges
Obviously works well numpty judging by the numbers you've shot. Looks good!
fenboy
Looks good , but for me the biggest benefit of a hide in the open is 360 degrees of shooting and you lose that with a roof though I do tend to use a semi roof on the rare occasions I shoot corvids. Stonepark
I use a 1.2m square pop up cloche with a net permently attached around it and a 0.75m hole in roof to stand up and shoot through. Before that i used same net with 4 poles, out in open for flighting pigeons and crows. As long as you are not human shaped or stand out as odd, birds will ignore you especially if you have a decoy or two to hold their attention.
