rwade545 Posted October 31, 2015 Report Share Posted October 31, 2015 Hi, was out on a shoot today, using my gunmark royale sidelock and black stom shells. On 3 occasions the gun would not open after only firing the right barrel. With a bit of force it opened, the cartridge primers were deeply dented and looks like pin has stuck in them. Switched to eley vip and was ok? Firing pin or soft primers? What do you recon? Took side locks off- clean as can be and pin is under tension from springs. Gunman Posted October 31, 2015 Report Share Posted October 31, 2015 Broken striker is the best bet . End of the pin has broken off but is held into place by the return spring .It could also be the striker ends are mushroomed over and are sticking in the body . subsonicnat Posted November 1, 2015 Report Share Posted November 1, 2015 Firing pins going too far in,you can see that, and the drag marks where you have opened the gun with some force.... They are not broken, the bottom of the pins are spherical.. But too pointed,need to be blunter to stop them going too deep.. Check springs while dismanteled as well.. Gunman Posted November 2, 2015 Report Share Posted November 2, 2015 So why have they started to go "too far in"? . Sorry mate but you can not say the pins are not broken without examination . Strikers do not suddenly lengthen themselves and you would be surprised at just how many side by sides I see with broken strikers that have seemed to be working quite well .A good example being a London made gun I stripped down today that looks like the striker has been broken for a long time , but that was not the fault in came in for .
