bluesj
I mornaly give a bottle of scotch about now and if I have a very good day ( get a ton on the pigeons. don't give to many of them away) I don't think its the gift that its the fact you give it that counts. And the best time to give it is when the farmer from the next farm is there to see Edited December 2, 2015 by bluesj

kyska
Absolutely nothing from me but after all I am from Yorkshire Fielddweller I never get anything! Although the guys who shoot for me are best friend's, I don't expect anything. The guy who puts his birds down (for no payment) really looks after us though. Not the other way- about. well yes, but now a days damn hard to get permissions, the one's who are still looking for one, they know the actual pain of finding one... so yes doing a favor i think from landowner/farmers point of view they have loads of people who would in fact be happy to pay them to get permission

WelshMike
Box of biscuits or a box of chocs from me. I normally deliver the 10 or so boxes a couple of weeks before. Looking at some of the pressies listed above I sit on the stingy side a little Edited December 3, 2015 by WelshMike

motty
A few of the farmers I shoot for will be getting a bottle of spirits each. That is enough money spent for me.
Mentalmac
I think it comes down to the relationship, certainly for me, one of my permissions landowner and the family have become very friendly to me, I get them something and they get me something - heck they even came to my wedding and I get invited to their garden and dinner parties now. The relationship has just grown, starting with shooting on their land to then being a friend. My other permissions such as a golf course which I've only been on a few months, I'll likely drop round a bottle of Red and a bottle of White to go on their table at Xmas - that'll just show I care and am grateful to be given the opportunity to shoot when I want (outside of when golfers are there obviously). Yes, I agree that we are doing them a favour, but 1) there are plenty who will happily also do the same thing for them. 2) I like to try to build relationships past being 'that shooting chap' and then who knows what else that can bring you in time. As above am thinking to buy some stuff now a days and will deliver next week (would that be good time or shall i push it to 3rd week of dec?) hawkeye
Well all the farms i can shoot on there are only 6 that get presents and it is usually a nice bottle of port and a tube of blue stilton or wine for a couple of them that don't like port.. These are the farms that contact me when ever they have a problem all the others i have to go and find out myself so it costs in fuel money..
