Cawdor118
I can't decide... Pros and cons? Cheers
BrowningDJC
The dmax has the 5 year warranty as opposed to the hiluxs 3 year. Hilux will have a strong re sale value in the future though.
WGD
The DMax is a relatively new model, the Hilux must be due for an update and at that point the residual value of current models will drop. When I last looked the DMax did pretty much everything better too, and tows 3.5T. Unless the Hilux spec has changed the Invincible will only tow 2.7T? anschutz.17hmr
Test drove a new l200 and a Isuzu on Friday because I,m thinking of trading in the amarok as its 5 year old, both of them felt very poor compared to the VW, new hilux due out in next 6 months so I'll keep the VW until I can test drive the new hilux. Cawdor118
I didn't even consider the VW - too me it's a car on a 4x4 chassis.
bostonmick
Hilux invincible is rated above 3.5 ton towing.however you may need a tachograph fitted.after owning most makes now over the years.on personal experience I can say Toyota are the best.reliable and strong in all aspects. anschutz.17hmr
my amarok has pulled everyday, tried a Isuzu and everybody still used the amarok for towing the trailers, it feels more planted to the road.
alastair0903
I am very interested in the current pick up market , as I am looking for one . For me it has to be automatic, therefore the amorok is leaps and bounds ahead . Currently have a car with 6 speed dsg box , so the 8 speed dsg in the amorok look perfect to me
walshie
The Hilux "only" tows 2.7 or 2.8 tonnes. I bought one a couple of months ago. I just think the dmax is ugly with a capital U. Edited January 18, 2016 by walshie

pjw4233
Forget Amorok if you plan to tow any weight, engine feeble with no low end grunt, feels and sounds stressed. DMax excellent work and tow vehicle. If you don't need to tow over 3.1ton I'd seriously consider Series 5 L200 as it has the most car like comfort, best fuel economy and best 4WD system in the class, just a shame it doesn't look as good as the Ranger.
