Wingman
Morning all I have been offered an old silver kestrel side lock for not much money and wondered if anyone has any experience of these guns and can give their views? It's tatty and needs a good tidy up but looks like a nice project gun although I haven't worked on a sidelock before so will need to work out how to get the stock off. Barrels could do with a reblack but it looks like it could be quite a pretty gun when completed. Little bit of surface rust on the barrels and bore but for under a hundred quid seems a bargain. Any views greatly appreciated
Nmb
I had a 20 bore as my first gun and loved it got a 12b version as well before selling them both for a beretta O/U. Never had any trouble with either of mines over the 6 years I had them.
Gunman
Biggest problem with them was ejector kickers breaking . Not as well made as the AyA IMHO but generally better finished externally .
Wingman
Have heard of a few reliability issues and according to Gunmark (GMK) no spares are available. My dilemma is I would have to sell my uguratecha Master to be able to fit it into my cabinet which is a great little gun. Guess I am being swayed by the look of the kestrel but sounds like it's not a better gun overall.
figgy
You can pick up good examples cheap online so why bother with a tatty one that won't have been looked after. As gunman has said AYA make some good cheap guns that you can get the parts for.
